Give a man a fish

'Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

To me, this quote appears to be the political line between lefties and righties. What does this quote mean to you?
Jesus was a fucking commie socialist.

You don't know Him very well, do you...
But Jesus replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to the dogs."

Does that sound like socialist Jesus or racist, tribal Jesus? Those Christ referred to as dogs was 99% of mankind. He came here to salvage the Jews alone. The faith of one Gentile woman changed His mind:

But Jesus replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” “Yes, Lord,” she said, “even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” “O woman,” Jesus answered, “your faith is great! Let it be done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.…

He came here to save the Jews. He ended up saving us all.

How about sticking to the OP for a change...
Hey Metro, welcome, and I believe the motivation behind the quote is that it is better to teach one to be self reliant than to rely on the actions of others... :)
You don't know Him very well, do you...

He handed out fish and loaves love.

It mean the government should give us food stamps, a living wage and free housing while taxing the rich...:20:

It should never mean to learn a living while learning to live in one own means...:19:

This thread has demonstrated that lefties still insist on getting their free fish. They will fish a pond dry and then stand there waiting for free fish before they move onto another pond. This thread shows that lefties need righties to be forced to teach them how to fish, and that they won't just figure it out on their own. All this means that lefties will always be trying to get free shit, and that righties will always resent having to feed them.

Teach a man how to fish

Isn’t that the Liberals who are fighting for access to education?
Isnt it liberals fighting for free and low cost higher education?

It is conservatives looking to abolish the Department of Education and allow higher education only for those who can afford it

Liberals are always "fighting" for something or other. We'd probably take you more seriously if you weren't so angry and aggressive.
Liberals stand for Truth, Justice and the American way

Dude, seriously? :laughing0301:

Superman is a Liberal
Batman is a neoconservative.
Batman is gay

It is not the fisherman who are at fault

It is the owners who pollute the pond for more profit, the owners who control the fish population, the owners who control who may and not fish in the pond. It is the owners who take nine out of ten fish and laugh as the fishermen fight over the remaining fish

But blame the fisherman

It's amazing to hear how the world looks through the eyes of a commie. I am grateful to have been taught judeo Christian values and to appreciate western civilization.

None of that even makes sense if someone owns the fish pond. Why would the owners pollute their own pond? Why wouldn't they take 100% of the fish that are caught? Why would anyone else have a right to any fish caught in the pond?

That’s how it’s generally seen by most.

I don’t believe in charity, so I’m not giving anyone a fish; but I want to know what I get for teaching the guy to fish. I also want to know who’s paying for his gear and license.

Me neither, so the rich who have tax write offs can afford to pay more in taxes. thank you.

I also do not believe in non profits.

He was none of the above, and said little to anything about government other than "give to Caesar what is ceaser's". He said nothing about "abolishing private property", or "workers owning the means of production". He also had respect for the arts and humanities, such as in his defense of the desecration of the temple. A true gentleman if you ask me.

He was more of libertarian or classical liberal than anything else, but I don't consider him able to be pinned down by a simple term - all of Christ's work was very entrepreneurial, he's the very definition of a "self-made man".

Christ also affirmed the usefulness of the Old Testament law, not seeking to "abolish it" - the law of the Old Testament (such as the 10 Commandments) affirmed rights to property (e.x. not stealing, not coveting) and personal autonomy (not murdering, not bearing false witness), and played a role in the development of our Common Law system - it was definitely not "socialist" or "communist", no.

Asking people to voluntarily be charitable is not "socialism" or "communism" either. Marx and others made quite a pretty penny off of their works, and weren't very eager to abolish their own private property, so much as that of others.

So a man who did not work, except for a walking preacher man, paid taxes, and lived off of whom??

Yes that is the republican motto, except you do whatever you can to hinder healthcare, education, and nourishment. But keep that fetus in the womb, so we can teach him to fish. You republicans have turned into a joke, a disgusting joke.

That was his work, he was an entrepreneur encouraging self-empowerment and moral cultivation, rather than worship of the state. He would have been executed under a "socialist" or "communist" regime.

So you have no problem with panhandlers and sleeping wherever you head lands and depending on others for food. Good to know.
