Get woke, go broke: Sports Illustrated is history

SI used to be cutting edge sports reporting and the swimsuit issue was just a sideshow.

Nobody reads magazines anymore and ESPN and other sports outlets beat SI on the big stories.

SI is now irrelevant
I believe that those three sentences sum up very well the state of print journalism.

As an 86-year-old, I believe that the only real journalism is PRINT.

But, of course, most Americans are not 86 years old!

(Here in Los Angeles, for example, the once mighty Los Angeles Times is on the ropes.)

After insulting fans for years and putting dudes in bikinis on the cover of what used to be the only good thing about the magazine, Sports Illustrated has gone full Bud Light and is shutting down.

LOL!

But.....but......I thought fat women and dudes in bikinis was a recipe for great success......what happened?

Hard to figure how they thought alienating their fan base by appealing to a segment of the population that would not subscribe would work.

It sums up the state of what was once journalism. The LA Times, NY Times, WAPO, Chicago Trubune, etc., are nothing more than State run propaganda outlets. They’re Dem / Socialist mouthpieces that have abandoned any sense of journalistic ethics or integrity.

The vile left destroys everything they come in contact with.

When was the last time you read a magazine ?

Remember TV Guide? Readers Digest? Life? National Geographic?
You obviously missed it but my post was specific about The LA Times, NY Times, WAPO, Chicago Tribune. These were places once staffed by journalists.

Your nightly viewing of the Joy Reid laugh’athon shows just how disastrous the left has become for journalism.

Mostly political commentary and not unbiased reporting passes for journalism today.

Can you name a newspaper that has better journalists?
/----/ Sure, any town newspaper that has a real reporter writing real stories and not relying on cheap public opinion polls of 250 random adults to generate headlines.

Local journalists are a dying breed.
The circulation is just not there, neither is the pay

And this was by design. I have no doubt.
Large corporations bought 100,000s of local papers, only to shut them down within a couple years.
Why would they do that? Why would these companies spend $billions over a 10 year period only to close down every one of them without any returns on investment?
And do it over and over and over.
Pretty sure you know I am not a conspiracy whacko... but there is no other explanation as to why these companies like Gannet and Lee did it.
Gannet has lost over $1 Billion since 2016. They have lost money every year, except one, for the past 9 years. Yet - they are still buying up small papers only to close them.
There is always a reason.

You started in 1985 and you've taught math for 39-40 year, eh. 2023-1985=38. You've just given a perfect example of why Johnny can't read OR add or subtract. I don't need to put you down. You do it every time you post.
Another blatant example of maths racism!
