German Tourists Deported From US for Not Booking Hotel

There's a bit of logic missing from your scenario. If they had access to a job like that in Hawaii, they could have simply given the address of the homeowner they would be staying at and CBP would have been forced to let them go instead of giving them the requisite cavity search for not booking a hotel.
Not on the Visa's they had.

Hostels, presumably the cheapest one they can find always have to be booked ahead of time to insure rates and availability. No one is flying into Hawaii with no hotel bookings, looking to walk into a "cheap" hostel at the peak of spring break, ffs.
Ah ha...
It's not a rule. But if you arrive in the US without hotel bookings you'll be questioned by CBP, but this has never been an excuse to strip search, lock up and then deport someone.
CBP did their thing on arrival, sending them to an ICE detention center is a whole new ballgame.

CBP doing their job like they did even before Trump.

Get a grip.

Not on the Visa's they had.

If they are presumably coming to the US to "work" for a couple of weeks, they obviously wouldn't reveal this. They'd simply give the address of where they would be staying, say they were on vacation and that would be the end of it.

They're both sides of the same coin. Trump has his goons at the head of each agency.

Obviously they fucked up.

Deported for not having a prebooked hotel room. Two teenage girls planning to spend weeks and lots of money (it is Hawaii after all) exploring there before moving on to CONUS instead spent a few days in a detention center before being deported. I suppose they are lucky they aren't on their way to El Salvador or Guantanamo.

It's like the trump administration is trying to kill. the tourism industry.

I asked Google if you are required to have your accommodation booked before flying to the US -

No, you don't always need to have your full accommodation booked to fly to the US, but you are required to provide the address of where you plan to stay for at least the first night, and it's wise to have the booking in hand in case you are asked. While it is not a strict rule to have every night booked, providing a booking confirmation can satisfy immigration officials, especially if they have any suspicions about your visit.

Are you telling me that this ^^^ only came out under Trump 🤔

TDS is making you bizarre.

Not true. They mentioned doing online work which wasn't permitted on the doc's they had.
Shoulda kept their mouths shut.

"These travelers were denied entry after attempting to enter the U.S. under false pretenses. One used a Visitor visa, the other the Visa Waiver Program," CBP Assistant Commissioner Hilton Beckham said in a statement. "Both claimed they were touring California but later admitted they intended to work – something strictly prohibited under U.S. immigration laws for these visas."

There is a disappointing shortage of photos on this thread.

No, they didn't admit any such thing. This was the claim made by CBP, which the girls then flatly denied. CBP has to prove it, for it to be true.

Nope, but usually visitors would be allowed to then provide proof of funds, credit cards, etc. and as far as I can tell, allowed to book a hotel on the spot. They would not be automatically carted off to a detention facility and then deported, on American taxpayer dime, i might add.

Documented and processed per CBP protocols. End of story.

They weren't deported..... they were denied entry then sent to the destination they requested.

Protocols newly updated under Trump, with his goon at the head of CBP to enforce them. 👍

Distinction without a difference

It's the way they've been doing business everyday even before Trump's landslide victory.

Nope. Trump has called for much stricter scrutiny. We see every day with the ICE gestapo.

LOL TM

What your ICE gestapo are doing in our cities and CBP screening at our POEs are two totally different topics.
