George H.W. Bush, one of the greatest Presidents of the United States!

George H.W. Bush is probably the greatest President the United States ever had! He led a life of service to his country starting with his service in World War II. He was a fighter pilot, got shot down by the Japanese. He survived in the ocean for four hours before being picked up by a U.S. Submarine. He later served in the U.S. House Of Representatives, then as ambassador to the United Nations, then served as chief of the Liaison office in China. He was then appointed director the CIA. He served as Vice President under Ronald Reagan during which the United States rebuilt is economic and military strength which were vital to winning the Cold War against the Soviet Union. He then was elected President of this great nation. He did send forces to invade Panama because it was necessary and swiftly defeated the threat there with very minimal loss of life considering the size and scale of the operation. When Iraq invaded and annexed Kuwait, George Bush masterfully put together one of the largest coalitions in world history. He then sent that military coalition which included 500,000 US military personal into Kuwait and Iraq and swiftly defeated the 4th largest military in the world in 4 days after 6 weeks of airstrikes. It was probably the greatest military victory in history given the scale of what was accomplished and the fact that only 113 U.S. troops were killed by hostile fire. A tiny fraction of what many predicted the casualties would be. George Bush's popularity vaulted to 91%, the highest ever achieved by any American President. George Bush raised taxes when it was not popular to do so. His last year in office saw quarterly GDP growth each quarter of 1992 ABOVE 4% in each quarter. That was the last time in U.S. history that the United States had 4 consecutive quarters of real GDP growth above 4%. His economic performance and tax plans laid the groundwork for the Surpluses that were seen at the end of the Clinton administration, the first Budget Surpluses since 1969. You would be hard pressed to find a better American patriot or better American President. George H.W. Bush did it all!

It was great if you weren't a civilian being targeted by the war criminal in chief.

All of the more than 400 women and children were incinerated or boiled to death at 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 13, 1991, when two F-117 stealth fighter-bombers each dropped a 2,000-pound laser-guided “smart bomb” on the civilian shelter at Amiriyah.

Some of you need to find better role models.

That was a mistake, a mistake that would never of happened if Saddam had never invaded an annexed and independent country, the first person to do so since Adolf Hilter. In fact, Saddam may have manufactured the incident by stuffing civilians into a former building used by the Iraqi military. If the United States wanted to kill Iraqi civilians, the United States could have killed millions of civilians on the first day of the air war. But I guess you don't understand that. Anyone defending Saddam and his actions would have defended Hitler as well. I can't even begin to imagine what you would say about the U.S. military's attempts to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany.
A mistake.
There really isn't anything special about HW or his presidency. Just another figurehead representing a people who perpetually tolerate the "mistakes" of our leaders.

Well, at least that is the way it is in your fantasy world. In the real world though, George H.W. Bush is one of the greatest Presidents the United States ever had.

He wasn't the worst but he definitely wasnt anywhere near great. He deserves his spot in there with W, O, lbj, jimmeh....which circles the drain.

I'd give him a lot of credit for flying a bomber during WW2, a long history of public service, he was a patriot, he did risk his life and accomplished a lot for one man. His presidency.... left a lot to be desired.

During George H.W. Bush Presidency, I a lot of great things happened. The Berlin Wall came down, The Warsaw Pact dissolved, East and West Germany reunited, The Soviet Union Collapsed peacefully, Bush formed a massive international coalition to take on Saddam's Iraq, Operation Desert Storm removed Saddam's troops from Kuwait and destroyed half of Saddam's military, the 4th largest at the time. Desert Storm was accomplished with tiny casualties relative to the size of the forces engaged. The cost of the war was payed for by U.S. allies Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Germany and Japan. The last time the United States had four consecutive quarters of 4% GDP growth was George H.W. Bush's last year in office!

George H.W. Bush was commander an chief of what was probably the most successful military operation in United States history, Desert Storm, in terms of the scale of the operation, what was achieved, and what it cost. It was an operation that was vital to United States and Global security. Over 500,000 United States personal involved and only 113 deaths from hostile enemy fire. A cost of $70 Billion dollars for 6 weeks of war, paid for by Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Germany and Japan. Bush's strategy, diplomacy, and leadership achieved that.

In March 1991 after the Desert Storm was over, George H.W. Bush's popularity soared to 91% in the GALLUP opinion poll, the highest EVER achieved by any sitting President in history!

In retrospect we should have been sinking time in Venezuela teaching commies how to jump out of helicopters, and left the ME to fight it's battles. The doctrine of "best if they both lose" is better than getting dragged in. Fuck the ME, fuck all that carpet pilot cult suicidal jihad shit. We have enough of their people here, let them assimilate so that shit dissolves and they start drinking beer. By then the ME will be glass. It's a problem that will solve itself.

The GLOBAL economy is dependent on oil from the Persian Gulf and still is today in 2018. The recession suffered under Bush was likely caused by Iraq's invasion and annexation of Kuwait and the resultant disruption in oil supply to the global market. Had Saddam taken Saudi Arabia the world would be facing another Great Depression. Oil,, Natural Gas, and the global economy are deeply interconnected and the impact on those things can reverberate around the world within hours. A country like the United States can't afford not to be engaged in many places around the world. Its one of the reasons why the United States has had a heavy military presence around the world since 1945. No one once to go back to the isolationism that help to create TWO World Wars!

The Road to Perdition Is Patrician

He epitomized the failure of family-biased credentialism. The fact that he got his little boy out of having to fight the Communists proves that he wasn't motivated by patriotism in World War II. He had been a bored richkid looking for a thrill; he was looking for a way to escape his drunken father; his political ambitions forced him to do so because the fathers of the fake "Greatest Generation" would never elect a spoiled brat who used family influence to get a cushy job stateside while their own Unfortunate Sons had to do all the bleeding.

Typical bullshit rubbish from the tiny group of conspiracy nerds who live in a conspiracy nerd created fantasy world.

Doozies, Who Do Not See, Do See Nazi

Kuwait has no right to exist. Its territory had been ruled by Iraq (Mesopotamia) for 5,000 years. After World War I, its imaginary sheikdom was snipped off the map in order to weaken and distract Iraq while protecting Iran.

With trillions of dollars from oil price-gouging, it spent a tiny percentage on the military, correctly expecting its fellow price-gougers, American and British Big Oil, to bribe their governments to bail it out from the consequences of its Chickenhawk attitude. When Saddam invaded in order to expand his country to its natural boundaries, the Kuwaiti ruling class skedaddled to Egypt, where the potbellied potentates partied with belly dancers.

EVERY MEMBER STATE OF THE UNITED NATIONS HAS A RIGHT TO EXIST! THAT IS A FACT OF INTERNATIONAL LAW! SADDAM BROKE THAT LAW WHEN HE INVADED AND ANNEXED KUWAIT!

Don't forget Poppy's motive for his WWII service:

How Bush's grandfather helped Hitler's rise to power

"George Bush's grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany.

"The Guardian has obtained confirmation from newly discovered files in the US National Archives that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism.

"His business dealings, which continued until his company's assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act, has led more than 60 years later to a civil action for damages being brought in Germany against the Bush family by two former slave labourers at Auschwitz and to a hum of pre-election controversy."

Bush is just one more in a long line of greedy, Ivy League psychopaths who found a way to the White House.

Were talking about PRESIDENT GEORGE H.W. BUSH. A man who fought the axis powers in World War II. Bush worked hard to get to the White House and had the best experience to be President. The country benefited from that experience while he was President.

He did his duty. All this hoopla over him is a bit overkill in my opinion. Couple of years ago, he was hated. Now all of a sudden he is this godly person worthy of a burial for a king? Um. No. He was just a man, not a god.

Yeah right.

I think of his legacy every time I pass a business that crows "we drug test employees". What a "benefit".

Also feel really insulted when the company flies me somewhere and I end up making a connection at "George Bush International Airport". :puke:

Uhhh...

NO.

Not an evil bastard at heart, perhaps.

Certainly a patriot, although some of the shit he did and promoted were definitely not in our best interests, and his globalist agenda was a regressive and detrimental pursuit.

Not going to bash the man. He led an incredible life no matter how you look at him, he deserves that much respect IMO.

.
I am with you.

I did not like many of the things GHW Bush supported, but I respected him as a man.

...and not just because he chose THE GREATEST UNIVERSITY IN THE HISTORY OF EVER to build his Presidential Library...

But that won't stop me from bragging about it.

And his war in the Gulf was unnecessary, unwarranted, and wrong – a waste of money, resources, and lives prosecuted only to benefit Bush politically.

And markers of a pattern of dishonesty in general. After he called candidate Reagan's rhetoric "voodoo economics" and Reagan called his bluff by running-mating him, Bush denied he ever said it --- even though it was already recorded on video. Shades of Rumpian self-delusion. And in the same Lee Atwater/George W-driven campaign the misleading Willie Horton ad came out he was deriding his opponent by sneering the adjective "Liberal", as if it were a negative. Ready evidence of a sleazy self-serving politician with little or no regard for what the facts are when they prove inconvenient.

LOL, lots of rubbish, nothing factual. As for the Gulf War, the Global economy relies on oil from the Persian Gulf. It was necessary to remove the threat Saddam's military posed to that to prevent global economic disaster. It was also necessary for international law, to protect the legal right for independent states, that are members of and recognized by the United Nations, to continue to exist! That law, concept or theory was under greater assault in August of 1990 than at any time since World War II. It was an absolute necessity for future international security and stability to restore Sovereignty to Kuwait by removing Saddam's military from that country. As for the cost of the war, because it was brilliantly planned and executed by the Bush Sr. Administration, only 113 U.S. military personal were killed by hostile fire and the $100 Billion dollar+ cost of the 6 week war was paid for by Japan, Germany, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. It does not get any better than that. That's why in March 1991, George H.W. Bush's approval rating soared to 91%, the highest approval rating ever for an American President while in office!

“The economy, stupid.”

The botched response to Hurricane Andrew.

An indifferent, apathetic Bush looking at his watch during the 1992 presidential debate.

GHWB’s was a failed presidency, he deserved not to be reelected.

When was the last time the United States had over 4% real quarterly GDP growth, in four consecutive quarters? Answer, 1992 when George H.W. Bush was President!

No matter how much you wish that GHWB's Presidency was a failed one, it never was one and will not be remembered as such. The scale of things accomplished during George H.W. Bush's Presidency is overwhelming! The vast majority of Americans love and respect him and history has proven George H.W. Bush to be correct. The holdout naysayers like yourself get smaller every day.

George HW Bush helped to set up an onshore training camp for Latin American death squads, toppled democratic governments on two continents, armed and supported Saddam Hussein before unleashing a genocidal war in Iraq designed to bomb an advanced, highly populated nation "to the pre-industrial era."

The Bush family are NOT your friends; they are scions of war profiteers whose fortune grew from arming Hitler.

They are war-mongers, and they have deliberately and coldly planned the mass murder of civilians, babies, children, women, and the elderly.

Exceptional Americans indeed.

RIP, George HW Bush: a mass-murderer and war-criminal
