House likely has a modest mortgage payment. Car is probably paid off.

The oligarchs off-shored American jobs to China and Mexico, keeping the profits of that move while impoverishing the rest of America. Both political parties facilitated that move.

Yup. The bottom line remains, the TV shows of previous generations reflected an ideal that shows of today simply do not. Today's shows present parents as morons who just get in the way of their kids actually running things, and no one's every safe to just grow up.
