Verses like these, about driving evil or sin from our midst are what people are trying to accomplish with these sorts of laws. As such, I can see their point. Makes my dating life rather inconvenient too.

Not here in the US I agree. Similar things go on in Israel all the time though. Not in law, but i effect as ultra-orthodox Jews often pursue vigilante/theocratic justice where sin comes to light. Was an incident a few years ago in Jerusalem, where a non-Jewish work crew was building a parking lot on the Sabbath and ultra-orthodox Jews assaulted them to get them to stop since work on the Sabbath is forbidden. Here in the US, we just try passing laws.

However, there does not need to be a bill in order for an employer to not hire a gay employee. It is pretty damn easy to establish a reason to pass someone up and almost as easy to come up with a reason to fire someone. Anyone with half a brain could easily rid themselves of a gay employee without any trouble.

Of course the same goes for virtually any service that a company does for a gay person so the bill that passed is rather inane at best.
