Do you have to freaking die to make a point? Maybe some did and the media ignored it. People were uncomfortable and pipes froze and old folks on fixed incomes went bankrupt but they were warm and happy in Carter's W.H. without wearing sweaters.

I've posted a few times the ridiculous Silicon Valley mass transit. If your job is near a stop by the light rail tracks, lucky you perhaps. Most can't walk or bike 5 miles in commute traffic to any hi-tech job. They are spread out 100sq mi at min. No one can afford to live in a decent home near jobs but two income rich families. Those who have been there for decades and moved up.

If you're poor and live 40 miles south you have to get to the light rail. Bus train car (park) rideshare transfers etc. The further north you work the more hopelessly slow avg 17mph.

Repeat all on the way home. 4 hours total minimum?

I lived in the SF bay area bedroom communities of the central San Joaquin valley. If you live within 40 miles of the Silicone valley, you're lucky. I knew countless people who communted 100+ miles a day one way -- driving, ride share, ACE train, BART -- that place is a mess.

You seem to be confusing 70+ years ago with now, and I have no idea what any socialists might have to do with the capitalist psychopaths who destroyed mass transit in L.A. some 70+ years ago.

In fact, California was really never controlled by Republicans. Reagan was a Democrat turned Republican and still had many left views on things while Governor. It's always been a liberal Democrat run state. The LA Transit system is still running. Just thought you might want to know.
