Read two other stories on this. In one the victim said he wasn't beaten because he was a trump supporter. In another the victim admitted to having served 7 years for murder.

Most likely they won't. Prison doesn't work like that anymore. While it's possible they can get beaten once, all they have to do is tell an employee they are in fear for their safety and a whole process takes over to isolate and protect the convict, making it very very unlikely they will get hurt. If the employee fails to act, they are brought up on charges if the con is hurt.
