FYI - Massive Data Breach!!

You have to wonder who doesn't have your info these days. :dunno:

Oh well, I'm reminded of an old movie line:

It's a story you will tell your grandchildren.....And mightily bored they will be.

It is reported that 2.9 billion American's personal data has been stolen. This includes everything including our social security numbers, every address we've live at, phone numbers, EVERYTHING!! The data was taken from National Public Data which sells this data to the government, police, employers, et (typically for background checks) and the data was not encrypted.

2.9 Billion People May Have Been Compromised in National Public Data Breach. Here’s What You Need to Know
And this is what happens when YOURE personal information is collected, bought and sold like a commodity. Personal data is a big money maker for corporations, and the government allows it, and eventually, breach happens and it’s you who gets stuck with the mess of trying to sort it out.

Why your identity and personal information can be sold and profited from by OTHER people, and it’s legal, I’ll never know. Worst is, YOU don’t get anything from it, except the headache of when your identity is stolen.

Why can’t our government…you know..the people we elect to work on stuff like this, actually make laws preventing this sort of thing.

According to a recent filing made to the Maine attorney general’s office, NPD says 1.3 million Americans were impacted in the breach. However, other reports and expert commentary range from hundreds of millions of people to upwards of 2.7 billionimpacted. A lawsuit brought against NPDclaims the number of affected people could be as high as 2.9 billion. At this time, it’s still unclear exactly how many people were impacted.

I don’t think they said 2.9 billion Americans. That’s a worldwide total think.
