June 25, 1996 Saudi Hezbollah detonated a 25,000-pound TNT bomb at the dormitory at Khobar Towers in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, killing 19 U.S. airmen and injuring hundreds of other Air Force personnel.
President Clinton declared that “no stone would be left unturned” to find the bombers and bring them to “justice.”

Freeh had another reason for wanting to outlast Clinton. It was the 1996 Khobar Towers terrorist attack in Saudi Arabia, where 19 U.S. servicemen died and more than 370 were wounded.
