Ok I am very bored so I will play. You have never meet an American if you think any of that.
The American diet has pretty much consisted on meat and potatoes for most of its history. Most Americans have no interest in quiche, borscht, or roasted grasshoppers. Offer a good steak and a potatoe and most Americans will jump on it. Since French fries are a fast and convenient way to eat potatoes it is not much of a leap.
