Sorry about this. I feel I have to start a thread. I have decades bottled up Sports observations-Musings if you must.

I have lost 4 wives, kids and dogs over it. But I have never missed a game or a story. Games I cared about. In-out of strike years.

**I will open with Bellichek observations.

Much is said "he's nothing w/o Brady". Au Contraire' Brady would be less w/o a Bellichek system, his O-line, his D-lines. Favorable big-market referees and league (They don't get the first one over the Rams without holding recievers) but I digress.

Bill B. (like Bill Clinton) did not screw things up (dot.com boom). He got it done 6 times. That cannot be denied. Greatest ever? Most playoff & SB wins for certain.

This from a guy who mostly did not pay much attention to football after the many clock rule changes limiting plays, the kneeling, 2020 BLM, dirty media, strikes, holdouts etc.. i came back.

two reasons. RedZone + Betting//

I am a lifelong Giants fan and admit that the two SBs we won under Parcells was because of Bellicheks smothering defense.

He plucked Tom Brady off the bench and found a way to win with him. Most coaches would have dumped Brady for Drew Bledsoe who most considered a superior QB

I believe Bledsoe wa injured or pulled for Brady who looked a little better right away if I remember right? Much like Plunkett got into OAK lineup to participate in 9 straight wins? and two SB. Or Montana got in to SF? (Steve DeBerg lol!)

All the way to tuck rule, snowplow game etc. Bill got thru it. They were in every game. Down big to ATL in SB. Almost not enough time left. But got it done

Like Jacksonville over SD down 30-0? NE (under Bill) also got it done when it looked pretty bad. Yes he had Brady. But Brady cannot move like Elway or Montana. So there is that.

I must go to a PC. Going blind with a crippled bad back, shoulders blowing out, bad hips using on small phone making typos with no power to type/edit/search.

TONY LARUSSA: over-rated? my findings.
  • Invented Steroids at OAK...but he never saw or knew anything about it?
  • Got two heavily favored bash brothers teams (Dave Stewart, ECK yes loaded) into back to back WS late 80s' but got punked by LA and CIN (Mickey Hatcher and Chris Sabo 4-1,4-0) you can look it up. I begin to squirm.
  • Somehow gets to STL and brings steroid boys with him, base coaches, the whole shooting match (no pun intended).
  • With massive loaded lineups, good pitching, he squeaks out two titles barely. Both could have been lost if TX has a RF 11' and light hitting Molina does not home late at Mets 06' and the GM does not sign clutch hitting Lance Berkman (2 out clutch hits).
  • He never plays Albert (on bench) until injury forces him to. Then he can't bench him, STL uproar would be too much,
  • TLR is found at a stoplight in a running car passed out (drunk) but they kept it quiet, no jail time. No charges? very quiet.
  • TLR blew the 02' AZ playoffs with some questionable pitching nonsense with a LHP named Garcia? and bullpen nonsense? and Ankiel wildness issues began in the playoffs (Mets & Braves) yet TLR used him costing playoff games?
  • Did TLR cause Rick Ankiel headcase wild pitching issues? He returned as a power hitting OF 05' but then rumored found with HGH shipment to his home? Again TLR with juicers.
  • TLR was a very good In-Game manager but many contend he was always given loaded lineups. He was slow to change our underperforming favorite veteran players. Did less with more.

stay tuned for other bottled up Sports observations//

The Eagles were a great last year and Hurts was fantastic down the stretch.

Even with all that, the Rams win that NFC championship game IF not forvtwo feet of snow and a cold wind blowing.

The Rams might of beat KC also? As the Chiefs OL was damaged goods.

*stay tuned. Tell your friends.

The older I get the less I understand peoples' fixation with spectator sports, both professional and NCAA.

You don't know any of these people; the only reason they play for the teams is because they are bribed to do so. Few of them live in the cities that they represent, even temporarily. Taxpayers are often forced to pay for stadia and other venues for these overgrown adolescents. Most of the players are flaming A-holes, pampered from birth for size and athletic talent that would be irrelevant in a rational society.

Because of inertia I do glance over the Sports news in the local newspaper, but my interests are mainly in a few of the "stars" in each league, and I check to see how they did in the most recent game. Golf is an exception for me; I do watch some of the competition when the tournaments wind down to the final stages, and I enjoy seeing them hit shots that I attempt with some regularity.

If the NFL and NBA closed up shop tomorrow, the only significant impact would be a blip in the unemployment and violent crime rates. MLB has about 20 more franchises than necessary, but at least it is a fantastic spectator sport, when well played. Hockey? I seriously don't get it. Wimmins' sports? I root for the cute ones, who are becoming more and more rare, for some reason. Accordingly, I do not follow CC, who may be talented, but she ain't cute.

Short version for me, GAMBLING for entertainment has brought me back from a similar position to your post. For now on NFL Soccer & NBA, another obsession to fool with.

When Caleb Williams season was labeled a bust by "experts" Blacks all rallied to "fire the coach, he didn't use him right". I saw QB fumbles as a key issue also.

Eberflous had a good defense on the field? Any guarantee the next guy will provide that?

Now they always blame the field coach or GM did not get him help. Will that get better or worse?

Be careful out there.

I watched (and bet) ARG vs. COL women COPA. Worst game ever seen. I think it ended 0-0?

Point is, constant flopping, laying on ground screaming in pain. Out comes two trainers and a coach with water bottles and cold spray. Minutes tick by, over and over the REF lost control from the start. Replay showed little contact on almost all flops.

Two heavyweight teams playing not to lose like Marty Shottenhiemrr teams. This is why people hate soccer.

Or a gambling setup?

They had a rematch last night, much better but also 0-0. Won by COL on penalty kicks.

I am tired o thef dark rooted blonde hoe sideline reporters. Tired of all highlighted dark rooted TV blondes BS reading teleprompter news. Just live! You were given hair, use it.

DREW PEARSON STILL PUSHED OFF!

Dale Smith vigorously attacked me over that. Even though when he joined up, everyone was calling him a fruitcake? I defended him right away. Then he became a board favorite? Not because of me but maybe because that call-in thing? Suddenly even filthy board Stain revered Dale?

At least at the trade deadline(s), teams unload players sort of willingly.

Not as bad as free agents going to LA for $1million more or 1 extra years guaranteed? Really Freeman? Thank? Most of LA team?

Note if they underperform (NFL NBA too), they still get guaranteed money, under contract (owners cant sit out, refuse to pay).

If players think they overperform, they suddenly want the contract voided and pay increased or they sit out. Ugh.

15th post
I have never been a homer, I don't root for the Bears or the Cubs, and the only time I get upset over any sports outcome, and this happens frequently, is when a team misses an extra point, a FG is blocked or wide right, or a game is already out of hand, and the team winning scores a defensive TD (or meaningless FG), pushing the total over some previously wagered number, or one of the two teams gets scored on, and gets pushed outside of previously wagered point spread.

I don't get too excited over prop bets, as I have come up short by one catch, or one yard, more times than I can remember. I know if my research was throrough or not, this also contributes to my feelings on losing, however, I'm almost always over a 50% win total.

Prop bets are sucker bets. The sports books make a fortune off of them.
