Free Healthcare Question

We all pay National Insurance and that pays for our healthcare. Think of it like a giant insurance scheme without middlemen buying private jets.
But it’s not “we all” it’s we most since many don’t pay into it but benefit from it anyway. Correct?

You should not be expected to pay if you are out of work. You can pay when you are in work. Where is the problem in that ? Its called civilisation.
Hmmmm….so then not everyone pays into it as you said. And there is a private supplement one may purchase. Correct?

The point of the OP is that what we have now works better than UH could or would and you agree. Thanks

While I would not trust our government to run healthcare, one does have to wonder why the we spend so much more per-capita on healthcare than those countries with some form of UHC.

Our insurance companies are inefficient as are administrators. Definitely needs revamping.
The problem is that they ARE administrators. They, with the help of lobbyists and decades of ill-conceived regulation, have inserted themselves as middlemen (middlemen getting their cut) in nearly every healthcare transaction. Insurance companies should be processing claims for unforeseen catastrophic events. They shouldn't "administering" healthcare.

I could not agree more

I do understand this wasn't the point your post. But question - Do you haggle with your primary physician or your specialists the way you would a car dealer or or folks at a garage sale? I have a couple of times, but most would have no idea how to go about such a thing.

Also, to a large extent, insurance companies have a maximum they will pay on any given procedure. Most docs know better than to charge double what insurers will pay.
