France & Denmark discuss French military to protect Greenland from America

Trump put his finger on Greenland because he wants to expand our military there.
Greenland has resources that would really be beneficial to us, plus having a strong military presence there right within the arctic would put the kibosh on Chinese and Russian plans. Plus we would be right within jumping off distance right next to Russia.

Trump's negotiations always start with seemingly outlandish demands which which he expects to lose in favor of his real demands.
Trump wants a box of candy bars for $40.00 so he threatens to take over the entire factory, get the workers all concerned, gets everyone scrambling for cover then backs down and settles for just an entire pallet of candy bars for $10.00.

Art of the Deal. :SMILEW~130:

You need to stop.

That is all Trump ever seriously proposed, to strike a deal, a partnership, something, anything from mining and military rights to outright statehood, and the people of Greenland are interested. If Europe has a problem with that, then this proves they are not really our friends.
I bet if China expressed an interest in Greenland, they'd be all happy and up.
Do you think if China said it was going to take Greenland, do you think France would be threatening to send troops to defend it?

Huh?
I have no idea, what I'm saying is, this silly talk about annealing greenland, buying canada, it's all nonsense.

Trump will get a 'sweet deal' because of his threats to take over Greenland. I believe the U.S. already has a base there (Thule air base) now Pituffik Space Base. I believe Trump wants a larger base.

Yeah but that's what I'm talking about. "Threats to take over greenland". Be honest, this just nonsense. We're not going to "take over" greenland. We'll either make some deals with them or we won't, but we're not invading greenland.

As we continue to isolate ourselves from our (former) allies and the world in general, as we continue to issue threats to our (former) allies, I guess this shouldn't be a surprise.

The world is worried about what is happening to us, but it's not going to wait around to find out. Fortunately, Denmark has declined the protection, so far.

Nearly all European countries have unanimously condemned Trump’s threats. For instance, reacting sharply to Trump’s remarks earlier this month, France said the US President should not attempt to threaten the European Union’s borders.

With Trump threatening annexation of Greenland, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has now revealed in an interview with France’s Sud Radio that his country discussed with Denmark the possibility of sending troops to Greenland. However, Barrot clarified that while France had started the talks for the deployment of troops, Denmark was not on board with the idea.

“We are a strong continent; we must become stronger,” Barrot said. He also promised that Europe would stand in defense of international law. “There is no question of the EU letting other nations in the world, whoever they may be, attack its sovereign borders,” he emphasized while responding to Trump’s comments.
You idiots act like Trump is going to take over militarily, he’s not. He will offer the citizens a fair deal and see if they take it. In the mean time the Eurotards do shit like this that makes his sales pitch even easier. Ask the citizens of Greenland if they would prefer the protection and benefits of becoming a US territory or be protected by France. Trump wins that one easily.

You overestimate the collective intellect of the left.

Trump wants to take Greenland: Four ways this saga could go

"In recent weeks, US President-elect Donald Trump has shown renewed interest in taking control of Greenland"

Trump invades Greenland

"The "nuclear option" seems far-fetched, but with Trump failing to rule out military action it has to be considered."

Tbh, Trump is doing a lot of good for the US, but he just seems to be in prick mode over Greenland, Canada, and Panama.

Do you think the world is going to stand by while the US invades another country with intentions to sieze it? That's why the russia/Ukraine war exists....

We are not going to invade greenland. The idea is just silly.

Trump doesn't understand that we're used to his behaviors and have dropped all standards for him. We know "how he is". We know this is the "way he negotiates". It's childish, but that's him.

He doesn't get that other countries are not numb to him, that they have to take what the American President says seriously, and that they often plan around what we say and do -- the point of the OP, and I assumed it was obvious.

I had no idea that so many Americans didn't understand this. The learning experience just keeps going, and it isn't very pleasant.

Trump refuses to rule out use of military force to take control of Greenland and the Panama Canal

Seems Trump thinks that this is how you put pressure on people. Scare them with something, then say "well, what will you give me for not being a total dick?"

The Fart of the Deal.

Evidently this is how he operates in most situations.

It's all he knows. He's a child.

Yes, and it shouldn't be too difficult for any competent leader of any country to figure it out and call his "bluff".

They're all thinking the same thing, but this was the first time one of them actually decided to play along.

It'll be interesting to see if they start doing this.

Good gawd. The embarrassment returns.

lol...looks like the Danes invoked the "Cheney Doctrine":
"Going to war without France is like going hunting without your accordion" :abgg2q.jpg:
