In this case, it's probable cause, so the office does not need a warrant to search. If you want to argue, then the officer impounds your car and escorts you to the police station for questioning. In the victim's shoes, I would ask what the call was about and am I under suspicion or arrest?

If the officer stops you for a traffic stop and asks to check the back of your trunk because they smell marijuana. What do you say then?
