Oil prices are set by OPEC. The US is not a member of OPEC.

OPEC couldnt nearly influence the oil prices like they did if we had an active policy of energy independence.

But as PolitiFact.com noted, the Waxman-Markey bill initially would distribute most of the carbon allocations for free and contains substantial provisions to offset costs to consumers, and thus “should reduce costs to consumers.”

The fact that he was talking about a completely different plan is irrelevant. His plan was to knowingly cause energy prices to skyrocket.

The fact that energy prices have skyrocketed for an alternative reason is completely irrelevant to the fact that this was the desired outcome from the plan.

Oil prices are set by OPEC. The US is not a member of OPEC.

Oil production is set by OPEC, the price of oil is actually set in the oil futures market. Of course, cutting/boosting production will have an effect on it's commodity pricing.
