The rationing of 1973 was caused by Nixon putting a ceiling on prices and then rationing was repeated when Carter cut off Iranian oil in 1979.
Additionally, daylight saving time was initiated in January 1974 in the belief it would put less strain on energy supply.

Carter giving asylum to the shah led to those Muslim cave men kidnapping our embassy workers.
Then they released the black embassy workers hoping to rile up race division in the US.
All of that could have been avoided on multiple levels had it not been for Carter being promoted as the great hope to restore honesty to the office of president. Forget about competence.
