Former Arizona Wildcats coach Lute Olson died today.

He gave us a lot of thrills here in Tucson including the incredible 1997 NCAA championship. He did even more for the community, really a great man. RIP.
It was my senior year
They beat three number one seeds !!
NC, Kansas and Kentucky

The greatest run in History

Wow, that sucks. I’m an ASU alumni, but always respected Lute and the Wildcats basketball program, it seemed like it was always strong.

He took Iowa to the final four in 1980.
Kevin Boyle, et al. 2 Big 10 teams in the final four as Purdue and Joe Barry Carroll were there, too. UCLA coached by Larry Brown lost to Louisville in the championship game.
Olson’s ‘88 AZ final four team was #1 for most of that year. Steve Kerr and Sean Elliot. His ‘98 AZ team was expected to repeat but got buzzsawed by Utah’s Andre and the giants.
RIP
