Forbes Magazine: How Trump’s Deregulation Sowed The Seeds For Silicon Valley Bank’s Demise

I want to share with you an article that explains how Trump's deregulation led to the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank, one of the largest banks in the country. The article is here: How Trump’s Deregulation Sowed The Seeds For Silicon Valley Bank’s Demise

'Sewed the seeds for the SVB's demise"

So you're not even saying Trump is at fault, but instead the BIPARTISAN legislation he signed into law helped create conditions that allowed 'woke' bank executives to mismanage assets, save theiir own ASSets by sellibg their shares and dole out bonuses before the collapse, and allowed the Fed to finish them off by raising interest rates 7 times.

Both Trump and those who voted for it.

Are you such a moron that you thought Trump didn't support and sign the bill into law?

TDS = Trump Devotion Syndrome = Defending Trump all the time

I'm not defending Trump.

Again, I am pointing out the FACT that expert economists are pointing out the BIPARTISAN legislation Trump signed into law had NOTHING to do with the SVB's collapse and that Biden's Fed raising interest rates 7 times 'killed' the SVB.

The article says that Trump signed a law in 2018 that weakened the rules for banks that were put in place after the 2008 financial crisis. The law was called the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act (S.2155), but it did not protect consumers at all. It allowed banks like Silicon Valley Bank to take more risks with their money and hide their problems from regulators.

The law was supported by most Republicans and a minority of Democrats who were fooled by the bank lobbyists. Most Democrats voted against it The Senate passed it by a vote of 67-31, with 16 Democrats voting for it. The House passed it by a vote of 258-159, with 225 Republicans and 33 Democrats voting for it. Trump signed it into law on May 24, 2018.

Now we are paying the price for this Trump law. Silicon Valley Bank failed because it gambled on risky loans and investments that went bad. It also lied about its financial health and hid its losses from regulators and investors. The bank's failure caused a lot of damage to the economy and hurt millions of customers, employees and shareholders. This is why we need to hold Trump and his allies accountable for their actions.

They sold us out to the big banks and put our economy at risk. We need to repeal this law and restore strong regulations for banks that protect consumers and prevent another crisis.

Deregulation (and, actually, aggressive refusal to regulate) played a huge role in the Meltdown of 2008/2009, opening the floodgates for the shit securities like CMOs, CDOs and CDSs that brought us down.

And, as usual, we learned nothing.

Not a fucking thing.

Except de-regulating wasn’t the issue here. SVB bought bonds at lower interest rates. The fed, and the entire Biden adminstration, was late to the party to realize that this inflation was not transitory, so started tightening. The tightening by the fed has caused financial problems for many tech. companies(soon to be all), particularly those that were startups, like those financed by SVB. Those companies started withdrawing their money at a rate that SVB couldn’t keep up, particularly when the bonds they owned were paying far less than the going rate.

Inflation wasn’t an issue under Trump but if it had become an issue, I am confident that Mnuchen wouldn’t have been so late to respond. And yes, I fully understand the federal reserve controls the rates, however, don’t think they don’t get pressure from the administration.

Word of advice, this is just the start. You and your kind voted for it and are now trying to blame Trump. Only ignorant and/or brainwashed can’t see just how dangerous and non-sensical this administration’s economic, foreign, et. al policies are, unless of course the goal is for us to collapse, in which case, they are doing an exemplary job.

If you don’t understand this, then you are a finanical advisor in need of a financial advisor.

But this happened under the watch of Biden and the Democrats. They’ve had two plus years to roll back deregulation. Why aren’t you asking that question? Why didn’t Biden and his Democrat handlers go after bank deregulation with the same piss and vinegar they went after fossil fuels within hours upon inauguration?

And Republicans continue to pursue more reckless, irresponsible deregulation.

Only the things Biden didnt decide to change on day One are still Trump's fault - somehow - The Party says so, so that's that

They bought US Treasuries.

The bank's failure caused a lot of damage to the economy and hurt millions of customers, employees and shareholders.

They didn't have millions of customers.
