More disturbing to some of us is the irrational and grotesque elevation of common criminals/thugs to figurative sainthood for no other reason than they got killed while resisting arrest. It hurts when a family member dies. It also hurts when a family member goes down the wrong path in anything and you feel helpless even with trying to help. It gets to the point where you have to let the person causing havoc to sink and swim on his/her own to see if they wise up. Many families with unity affected in a bad way. With any resources reduced and with other members maybe in conflict. This problem is in all cultures. In cities it is more concentrated with other issues involved when the police angle comes into it.
