This is a shocking incident. People who attend sporting events have a right to go home afterwards. I thought that thos was a british peoblem. But it seems that American thugs are more culpable.

That mean spirit with extremist fans is everywhere. From pee wee leagues to the Pro level. The world we live in.

It largely depends on the city.

Here in Indianapolis, everyone will ask opposing team fans if they're having a good time, and point out good local restaurants.

Oakland or Philly, now those are hostile fans.

Here, the guy throwing the punch was a Miami fan, and they're not known for being especially bad.

There is a lesson in all of this Tommy which you sadly fail to appreciate:

People who shoot their mouths off looking just to offend others eventually get shut up.
Tommy is a weakling puss. People going to football games are aware there can be intensity and issues. Tommy Tearful sits on his pillow and wishes to clutch pearls, cry and faint.

Tommy is obviously confusing Euro football with American football. We call Euro football 'soccer' here in the States. Violent soccer fans are the norm apparently:
Violence among soccer fans is a phenomenon that we see far too often.

"We see many news stories about violent clashes between rival fans. The last violent occurrence happened in the Copa Libertadores finals, during a game between the Argentine teams River Plate and Boca Juniors."

  • Sports are about entertainment.
  • But sports is also about competition, excellence, victory and success.
  • Competition breeds emotion and pride.
  • Combine emotion with competition and the striving for excellence and victory and you will always get violence.
As soon as the leagues try to totally feminize sports down with excessive rules, regulations and fines trying to take all of the emotion and passion out of sports, that sport will die a slow death, as a big part of the entertainment factor in sports is the fan's ability to release and vent emotions.

Obviously the problem here is that the guy that got punched just made it too personal.

I read that he was part ot 2 groups sniping at each other. Someone walked up and smacked him and he died right there and then. The autopsy would be interesting to hear. According to his wife he had no health issues but his father had heart trouble.
Mooney's wife Lisa told the outlet that “according to stadium footage Dale never threw a punch," and expressed that he was a lifelong fan of the Patriots and had been a season ticket holder for 30 years.
While speaking to WHDH, she added that Mooney was self-employed. As per his health, she shared that Mooney had no known heart conditions but had a father who "had issues with his heart."
