Florist Sued for Refusing Service to Gay Couple Pens Defiant Letter Rejecting Gov’t Settlement Offer

Nobody kept homosexuals out of any business. They just refused to create artwork and place it for a ceremony they consider sacrilegious.

They refused to provide the same exact product to a gay couple they would provide a straight couple. (Which is where the law breaking occurred)

We're going to see how constitutional this nazi law is. .

All public accomodation laws are based upon the groundbreaking 1964 Civil Rights Act.

I look forward to Conservatives arguing that Nazi's were responsible for passing the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

I will bring the popcorn.

Christians and Republicans were responsible for passing it. The Dems fought us for years, but we finally pushed it through.
But Conservatives dragged their heels kicking and screaming. What a legacy!

Only conservative democrats.

Christian republicans pushed the law for years and years.

We're going to see how constitutional this nazi law is. Hobby Lobby is going to continue to haunt the demonic Left as a harbinger for how the Supreme Court is going to handle issues of religious conviction in business.
And that's ok....because the Hobby Lobby ruling will also help businesses with other than christian rules to live by.

Good. It's you on the statist Left that are terrified of freedom, not us.
Freedom?!? Where's the freedom for homosexuals? How dare you cite "freedom" while defending everything but.

Nobody prevented them from doing anything. They're free.

They just aren't free to force people to create art to celebrate their sex acts.
But celebrating heterosexual sex acts is okay. Just not homosexual marriage. And yet you don't understand that the refusal was based entirely on that fact. That's discrimination.

There were a few Conservative Republicans too. Ever hear of Senator Barry Goldwater?

Yep. They've been serving two men who just didn't happen to be gay but were also living in sin.

It doesn't really get much more hypocritical.

What's your point?

My point is that democrats blocked it for years and years and years.

Just as they blocked equal rights for women..which had been part of the Republican Party Platform since the 40s.

Now you loons run around pretending you're the ones who fought US to establish equality. It's laughable.

You can boycott any business you like. Business isn't protected from boycotts under PA law.

I understand the current legal status. I'm asking if you think it should be prohibited on the same grounds. Why is it any different?
A business isn't a person. You could have a business run by gay people that caters to gay people but the business itself is not gay (or muslim, etc.).

We're talking about the people working at the business. You really don't see the inconsistency here?

The principles at the core of these kinds of laws are corrosive, and as they are applied more generally will become ever more problematic. Every time a new "protected class" is added to the list it's going to get worse.
No, I don't see the inconsistency. I understand that you believe anyone should be able to discriminate against anyone at all, and while I half-way sympathize with that view (though it is rather un-American to make people prove they are worthy of service) it doesn't equal forcing people to shop at a particular store.

Nobody was discriminated against.

Except the Christians, who are being hounded and harassed, targeted and fined, for refusing to participate/celebrate a sacrilegious ceremony.

The court disagrees.

Poor, poor Christians.....being hounded and harrassed because they are told to obey the law just like everyone else.

And that's ok....because the Hobby Lobby ruling will also help businesses with other than christian rules to live by.

You still can't force us to participate. You can gyrate all you want. It won't make any difference. At the end of the day..we won't be bringing the cake in or doing the flowers.

Christian Democrats and the lone Christian Republican from the South- fought the law for years and years.

Odd isn't it that you ignore 'Christian' when it comes to the opposition and only notice it when convenient.

Please stop imagining me gyrating. I don't want any part in your fantasy life.

And btw, no one forced this woman to supply arrangements for weddings. She chose that option of her own free will.

Not to mention that your post did not change the fact of her epic hypocrisy.

What did they want the floral arrangements in shape of dicks or something? I suppose every flower arrangement for straight weddings is a celebration of missionary or something. Good god girl get a grip.

If by 'you loons' you mean Liberals, we are the ones who fought for all the social movements to extend full freedoms to all Americans. It's always been Conservatives who provided the opposition.

If you own a business and refuse to obey the law, then you should be willing to face the consequences.

Your point is to pretend that Democrats didn't pass the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

While at the same time you think that the 1964 Civil Right Act is wrong.

That is quite a double take there.

She's being persecuted for opting out of creating art that celebrates and event she considers a sacrilegious desecration of a sacrament.

She didn't discriminate against anybody, she didn't toss anyone out of her shop. She didn't say "You can't buy flowers and take them to your event." She just said "I will not create special art for an event I object to on a religious basis."

She doesn't have to. And the left naturally will crucify her for it. You guys are good at crucifixion.

You can't force people to commit sacrilege. It's essentially claiming "you must renounce God." Christians aren't going to do it. Get over it. You don't have to agree with it. You just can't do anything about it. Except what you are doing, which is disgusting.

She discriminated by refusing to sell to a gay couple what she would sell to a straight couple.

She is being 'persecuted' like anyone else that doesn't follow the law.

Just that some Christians like yourself think you are not subject to the law.

Yet she'll create special art for two gay men living in sin. Delicious!

Her flowers are not integral to the event. They are not part of any sacrament, ritual, rite or worship. They are decorative, that's all.

She cannot hide behind her faith to rationalize her bad behavior. She is adopting the same tactics as the Taliban when she perverts her faith to discriminate.
