Florida: tree cactus becomes first local species killed off by sea-level rise

It took simple effort to research this catus to discover it was already on its way out back in....... 1917 as shown here:

No, USA Today, Rising Seas Aren’t to Blame for ‘disappearance of rare cactus in Florida’

Excerpt:

A recent article in USA TODAY claims that a rare cactus in the Florida Keys has gone extinct due to sea level rise. This is false. Many factors have contributed to the decline of this cactus and much of it began over 100 years ago. USA TODAY and many other news outlets are misleading their readers into believing climate change is at fault by not reporting the full set of facts.

MSM sucks as usual.
Sunsettommy is ignorant and dishonest as usual.

The article never suggested that the plant's decline was due to rising sea levels but that its extinction was. That the species was growing in only a single location was already de facto proof that it had been in decline for a great while.

You lie once again since I never specifically claimed it was sea level rise that caused the decline form a century ago, this is what I wrote that you ignored being the dishonest poodle you are:

Tommy and HIS article were lies and YOU never noticed it while I did with two articles that finally exposed the lies of Tommys article which you never disputed instead you tried to make up a lie on me for some reason only YOU understand.

Really you bombed this one suggest you slink away.

Very sad. RIP
Killed by mans stupidity and ignorance..
What will be next on conservatisms death list ? Gods will I suppose ?
Florida: tree cactus becomes first local species killed off by sea-level rise
he Key Largo tree cactus growing naturally in the US through saltwater inundation and soil depletion from hurricanes, according to researchers from the Florida Museum of Natural History, and Miami’s Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
Hey TT, maybe if you stopped porking other men's asses, there would be less flatulence from you guys and that could stop the hurricanes from happening. The more you fudge pack, the more shit is going to happen.....

I never said you claimed it was sea level. I said that the article states that rising sea level have made that plant extinct. That is a demonstrable fact. That other factors made it vulnerable is irrelevant to that claim because those other factors did NOT make it extinct.

An 80 year old man in poor health gets shot and killed by a robber. Is the robber innocent of murder?

I don't care. That you think USA Today is a good technical source speaks volumes.
Tommy and HIS article were lies
Find us a single statement in that article that you can demonstrate is false.
and YOU never noticed it while I did with two articles that finally exposed the lies of Tommys article which you never disputed instead you tried to make up a lie on me for some reason only YOU understand.
God you're stupid.
Really you bombed this one suggest you slink away.
Your failures to grasp facts in evidence are occasionally stunning.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

You can't read the title of MY article that exposed the bullshit of Tommys article at post one here it is again for YOU:

No, USA Today, Rising Seas Aren’t to Blame for ‘disappearance of rare cactus in Florida’

Here is what Tommys article states that your damaged brain couldn't see:

The TITLE of his article:

Florida: tree cactus becomes first local species killed off by sea-level rise

Tommys article only goes back to 1992 while mine goes back to the 1800's and specifically to 1917.

Tommys article:

The climate emergency has killed off the Key Largo tree cactus growing naturally in the US through saltwater inundation and soil depletion from hurricanes, according to researchers from the Florida Museum of Natural History, and Miami’s Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.

Misleading and LYING by omissions of past history of decline long before sea level could have become a factor.

My article:

Writing in 1917, botanist John Small noted that the Key tree cactus “was for a long time very abundant [on Key West]…In recent years, with the destruction of the hammock for securing firewood and for developing building sites, this interesting cactus has become scarce, until at present it is on the verge of extermination in its natural habitat.”

Here is a published paper showing sea level changes isn't the cause for the destruction of the Cacti:

Worse, the study itself contains a lie of omission. Nowhere in the study being hyped by USA Today and other media outlets do they mention or reference this important study, Maul and Martin. 1993. Key West SLR Trends in Key West. Had the researchers bothered to look at this 1993 study examining Key West sea level records all the way back to 1846, they might have noticed this paragraph (highlight, author’s):

It was a HURRICANE that damaged the area that cause the rapid decline of an already long declining trend of more than 100 years.

From Tommys article you didn't read:

They go on to describe how a hurricane poisoned the soil the cacti grew in, “In 2017, category 5 Hurricane Irma swept across South Florida, creating a 5-foot storm surge. The highest point on Key Largo is only 15 feet above sea level, and large portions of the island remained flooded for days afterward.”

You are a lousy liar and a poor reader.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Here is what Tommys article states that your damaged brain couldn't see:

The TITLE of his article:

Florida: tree cactus becomes first local species killed off by sea-level rise

There is nothing wrong with the title of that article. The problem is in YOUR claims.

Tommys article only goes back to 1992 while mine goes back to the 1800's and specifically to 1917.

I hope you didn't think 1917 was part of the 1800s.

Tommys article:

Misleading and LYING by omissions of past history of decline long before sea level could have become a factor.

It was rising sea levels that eliminated that species. The one misleading and lying by omission here is YOU. You omit that the plant survived from 1917 to the present despite all the factors that had been pushing it into decline. You ignored my analogy. A robber who shoots and kills an ailing, 80 year old has still committed murder. The cause of the extinction of that plant was sea level rise.

My article:

Here is a published paper showing sea level changes isn't the cause for the destruction of the Cacti:

Your article demonstrates NO SUCH THING

Worse, the study itself contains a lie of omission. Nowhere in the study being hyped by USA Today and other media outlets do they mention or reference this important study, Maul and Martin. 1993. Key West SLR Trends in Key West. Had the researchers bothered to look at this 1993 study examining Key West sea level records all the way back to 1846, they might have noticed this paragraph (highlight, author’s):

Typical denier fuck up. "The area of of Key West Island has increased since the last century due to dredging and construction." Do you actually think this refutes sea level rise? And you apparently haven't spent much time in the Keys. Key Largo and Key West are at opposite ends of the chain.

It was a HURRICANE that damaged the area that cause the rapid decline of an already long declining trend of more than 100 years.

How did it manage to survive the roughly 190 hurricanes that have struck the US since 1917?
