Alexander might as well have said that employers could eat cake and the workers could scramble for whatever crumbs fall off the table.

my mother's minimum wage job not only saved our house, it saved our family. it didn't make life perfect. but we hung together. we made it: shaken, but still standing!

Of course there shouldn't be minimum wage. What a worker and employer agree on is none of the government's business. It's a private matter like any transaction. All the minimum wage does is bankrupt businesses, spike prices, and force the least skilled workers out of the workforce. Let the market determine wages.
