At present, China is the biggest source of GHGs by nation, the USA is #2, and India is #3. Chinese industry can produce items at less cost because they have very cheap labor, at present. That is changing with the demographics in China. China is also investing much more in basic research than we are, and it shows in many of their products, especially their top end EV's. Their battery research is far ahead of ours.

India uses 27.3GJ per capita.

The US uses 277GJ per capita and your very own Canada uses 360GJ per capital. So a Canadian will use, on average, three times more energy than a Chinese person.

HOWEVER, China is manufacturing for the US, for Canada. So, the reality is some of this energy used in China will go to benefit these countries.
