The Science Channel loves to do stuff during "shark week" but in this case it wasn't just exploitation. It seems that as a result of cleaner water (and global warming?) the Great White Shark population has increased off the NY Long Island coast. A tagged young white shark caught off Montaulk Point swam within spitting distance of lifeguards at Jones Beach. A whale was killed by collision with a freighter ship inside NY harbor and the corpse showed evidence of great white predation. Interestingly enough the harbor seal population has returned to NY after more than a hundred years. Is it good news to the left or is everything bad news?

Actually, the reason they are going farther north is because the water is getting warmer, and they can expand their territory.

But, if you like shark attacks as far north as NY, then don't worry about it.

Read to learn sometimes...great whites are usually found in cooler water...it is what they prefer...

He doofus, Great Whites hunt seals in the northern pacific, always have. In frigid temps.

These warmer wack jobs are programmed to say whatever they think will make their case...regardless of whether it makes any sense at all...or bears any resemblance to the truth...every damned thing in the world is being caused by CO2 and its imaginary influence on the climate...for all of history, the climate has remained static...it never changed until now...it is the damnedest thing.....the earth was a paradise till the invention of the internal combustion engine.

Nope!

Those currents cooled and have gone into their 30 year cold phase. Have you ever learned about the ADO (Atlantic Decadel Oscillation) and the PDO (Pacific Decadel Oscillation)?

Sharks are forced nearer the shore because their food has gone nearer the shore where the water is shallow and warmer.

The pure BS from alarmists is breathtaking..

Google is your friend. Here is what Wikipedia says about the great white shark and the water they prefer..................

Great white sharks live in almost all coastal and offshore waters which have water temperature between 12 and 24 °C (54 and 75 °F), with greater concentrations in the United States (Northeast and California), South Africa, Japan, Oceania, Chile, and the Mediterranean.[23] One of the densest known populations is found around Dyer Island, South Africa.[24]

Sorry, but 54 to 75 degree water is pretty warm.

Sorry, but 54 to 75 degree water is pretty warm.

Guess you never jumped into 54 degree water. In water at that temperature, you loose your dexterity in 10 to 15 minutes and you are likely to lose consciousness in an hour to an hour and a half...

Further, did you bother to look at the average ocean temperatures in NY? At Bergen Point in NY, the average water temperature is 55F....At Kings Point, NY, the average water temperature is 52F....At Montauk, NY, the average water temperature is 52F....

So no...the water is not warm..and the temperatures there now are not unusual...you AGW believers are dupes...you grab scraps of information and run with them without finding out the whole story.

Actually, I have been in water in those temperatures. Grew up in Montana, and yeah, 75 degree water is pretty warm. And yeah, I've swam in water that was in the upper 50's. You get cold if you're not swimming constantly, but if you are swimming you can keep comfortable.

Billy, SSDD, why are you both faking stories about cold water temperatures off of NY? The data is online, and it says you're lying.

So, do you feel any regret over your behavior? Or, like true sociopaths, are you incapable of ever feeling shame or regret?

Just checked your link. The coldest temps recorded for today were around 73 deg, and the warmest temps recorded today were 83. That's pretty warm water.
