I watched this last night for the first time in over 40 years.
I watched it as a teenager and thought it was crap back then.
Now I watch it as a Grandfather and I think its a work of genius.

Life can change your perspective on art. Have you ever recised your opinions as you have matyred ?

/----/ I liked it then at age 20, and like it now.

Good movie with great songs

In the original story, upon which Fiddler is based, the fourth daughter (in the movie, she has no role other than to be there), drowns herself as a result of a match thwarted by both the boy’s father and Tevya due to a mismatch in wealth. They left it out of the movie (and play) because it was too tragic.
