I stopped saying that ridiculous pledge in 3rd Grade. I saw "Liberty and Justice For All", was sad, sick and pathetic lie. I grew in the 1950's in Arkansas and Tennessee. I saw how Black were treated and knew it was a lied. My teacher sent note home to my parents (who were NOT racist) demanding I recite the lie. Dad asked my why I was not saying. I took him to the front door and then the back door. "White People come in through the front door, Black's came though the back door." He nodded, smiled sent the note back to the teacher saying I was hereby exempt from the Pledge. The teach fumed for a while, and I was picked on a lot, but I stood my ground. U.S. District Judge John W. deGravelles in Baton Rouge said the law had an “overtly religious” purpose, and rejected state officials’ claims that the government can mandate the posting of the Ten Commandments because they hold historical significance to the foundation of U.S. law. His opinion noted that no other foundational documents — including the Constitution or the Bill of Rights — must be posted.

“We strongly disagree with the court’s decision and will immediately appeal,” Louisiana Attorney General Elizabeth Murrill said in an emailed statement. Murrill, a Republican, supported the law, as did Republican Gov. Jeff Landry.

The Ten Commandments are a set of moral principles and rules that are considered fundamental to the Jewish, Christian, and Islamic faiths. They are also known as the Decalogue. According to the biblical account in the book of Exodus, God gave these commandments to Moses on Mount Sinai.

Here are the Ten Commandments:

• Worship only God (no other gods before Him)
• Make no idols or images of God
• Do not take the name of God in vain
• Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy
• Honor your father and mother
• Do not murder
• Do not commit adultery

I get what you are saying here, but putting up a picture/plaque of the ten commandments is not the same as having a class where people learn about religions. Having such a class would only be going a whole lot further if anything.
