Federal agents open fire on a truck in LA

In PA vs Mimms, they can also order you out of the vehicle and you must comply
Nope! The police have to have a lawful reason to pull the car over FIRST. In the case of PA vs Mimms, the car pulled over had an expired licence plate.

The police gave the man in this case NO LEGAL REASON for the traffic stop.

No they don't. The feds have the authority and power to conduct their own sobriety checkpoints. The Supreme Court says it's constitutional under the 4th Amendment.

You are required to display your license and registration upon request. That is the law.

The police gave the man in this case NO LEGAL REASON for the traffic stop.

One reason is as good as another. They can stop you just to see if you have a driver's license. That is within their current authority. Under the law.

No Scruffy....that's not what the Supreme Court ruled in the PA vs Mimms case. They can't stop you to see if you have a driver's licence ...that would NOT be a legal reason for a traffic stop...and then force you to get out of the car.

Not talking about that.

I'm talking about Michigan Dept of State Police vs Sitz (1990).

They can stop you for any reason related to public safety.

Checkpoints can legally include background checks, warrant searches, and license inspections, in addition to field sobriety tests and whatever else they decide to throw at you. Presentation of identification, license, and registration is mandatory on demand. They can arrest you on the spot for failing to carry your driver's license

Oh enlighten us, where is THAT in the constitution?

You do realize that the right to remain silent is in regards to the 5th amendment right not to incriminate oneself, but that SCOTUS has ruled that you DO have to answer cops questions at a traffic stop? You must give them your information, like ID, registration and proof of insurance?

When stopped for a valid reason. Cops can't just randomly pull people over. This has been noted many times now but it just doesn't sink in with you big government authoritarian types.

In PA vs Mimms, they can also order you out of the vehicle and you must comply. They didn't comply, they put the car in drive striking two officers. They're lucky they weren't killed.

They have to have a reason.

They have to have a reason.
Illegal aliens shouldn't be allowed to drive AT ALL.

They can't work, how are they going to afford a car and insurance?

Let em take the bus, that's what it's for.

Never did I think the US would allow immigrant drivers of huge 18 wheelers who don't know the language or the laws of the road get behind the wheel and kill Americans.
If you’re a Trump supporter that kills cops, you can get a presidential pardon. God help you, if your sub sandwich isn’t legally registered, though!

No one arrested.

(see above link)
apparently the mexican driver has a green card which is sll ICE was trying to find out

Otherwise he is under local lib jurisdiction and gets off scott free on any charges I would like to see brought

Can't do that. Again, you big government authoritarians supporting "show me your papers".

Might be less of an issue if those officers didn't look like they needed circumcised.

Its lucky for your argument that he has a green card

Otherwise your complaint would collapse and your pet minority would be in detention

While state and local police can do those things… ICE can not

This was ICE..

This entirely to blame of the democrats, the news media, and the driver of the truck

I wonder if he has insurance to cover the damage to his truck?

The morons took off after pulled over, probably trying to run over a cop. That means they get shot at.

But we’re supposed to feel sorry for their “lasting scars”.

It does not appear that the moron driving the truck is an illegal alien or a wanted felon

Why couldnt the knucklehead have cooperated with the police and rolled his window down?
It’s the new entitlement grift. They all act “scared for their life” when pulled over. Happens all the time now.
