His lawyer said that he was putting out a fire started by one of the rioters. One of the rioters threatened him and, when Rittenhouse ran, he gave chase. Upon hearing gunshots, he feared that someone was shooting at him and so he turned around and was confronted by his attacker, whom he shot.

It's your view that he should not have had the gun and, therefore, forfeited any "right" to self-defense, correct?

Furthermore, is it accurate to say that you are opposed to citizens being able to protect their property during a riot, even when the police refuse to do so?

As for Charlottesville, there was NO VIOLENCE by the "unite the right" marchers on the Friday night before the Saturday assembly. Violence didn't occur until antifa arrived.
