Let's wish them luck in their new endeavor. Maybe they can set up successful fashion houses. Anyone here speak Arabic who would enjoy being a Fashion Director at one of these houses? It might not be the House of Dior, but it could be a success if the dresses are just even sold all over the Middle East and it would give talented designers a chance.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) - The West Bank city of Ramallah is not internationally known for fashion, but organizers hope that its Palestinian Fashion Week will draw more attention to local designers.

The three-day show, which ended Saturday, saw models prowl the catwalk in the only major fashion show in the Palestinian territories. Their outfits included both short dresses and conservative frocks with headscarves.

That is refreshing news. There are quite a few companies who want to put more work into the West Bank.

Not possible, Sally.
From what some here claim to be the case, those poor, put-upon Palestinians are all either imprisoned and in the 3rd or 4th year of their hunger strike or are being "genocided" by their Israeli tormentors. How can they possibly find the time, the energy and the freedom for something as frivolous as fashion design? Or auto racing? Or hangin' out at the mall? Or working at SodaStream?

How soon before the boiler room girls decide that it is the Israeli's exploiting the Palestinian labour force and start a boycott of the goods produced. The fact that the workforce will be paid more than they would get from a Palestinian brokered company, have better working conditions, more paid holidays and fringe benefits. This will undermine the P.A. authority and result in the people voting the hard line terrorist extremists out of power and putting more moderate politicians in their place.

Fashion is the new street lingo for social dialogue. With the populism achievements if Izod/Lacoste, Gap, and Swatch, people are now more than ever stirred about design and accessories.

Such notions reveal the human value of relevant Hollywood (USA) movies such as "Toys" (1992) and "Factory Girl" (2006).

The design pioneerism of Steve Jobs (Apple Computers) and Jean Paul Gaultier (clothing) have paved the way for a sort of consumerism-catalyzed totem-pole 'user-friendly' culture and couture.

The audio cassette was the first portable audio media record/playback toy, very popular in the consumerism-explosive 1980s. Stockbrokers would walk to work with their handy-dandy Sony Walkmens, listening to cassettes/tapes of classical music and this sort of urban beat signaled a new era of 'lifestyle fashions,' which explains the 'pseudo-politicization' of fashion as it relates to Israel-Palestine. Why else would Hollywood (USA) suddenly feel comfy making a movie such as "Syriana" (2005)?

The Balaclava monkey-cap, popular on the Indian subcontinent (Asia) was a response to the ski-mask trends in the West. While ski-masks have become cliched thanks to various crime-glorification movies about ski-mask wearing bank robbers, the monkey-cap remains a populism spirit alternative fashion accessory.

I can see an Israeli or a Palestinian wearing a monkey-cap and carrying a vintage Walkman (perhaps with an audiobook cassette of "Treasure Island" [Robert Louis Stevenson] playing on it) without much 'political' controversy. Such is the power of modern fashion.

Who's the sponsor-wig behind this fashion show? Endorsement is everything.

It's that damn Gaza concentration camp to blame.

Yeah! Those poor suffering Palestinians. I'd like to see them have a modeling agency like this while under the Islamic barbaric thumb of Hamas. Ha ha ha! GAWD, so much fun watching these terrorist lovers put their own hoofs in their mouth.
