In the aftermath of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which gave Americans the constitutional right to an abortion, President Joe Biden's history on the issue has drawn renewed scrutiny.

A Facebook post shared June 27 shows a screenshot of a tweet senior editor of The Federalist David Harsanyi shared with a link to a New York Times article titled "When Joe Biden Voted to Let States Overturn Roe v. Wade."

"In 1982 Joe Biden proposes a constitutional amendment that would overturn Roe v. Wade and allow states to choose their own policies on abortion," reads the tweet, which amassed over 10,000 likes since it published on June 24.

The Facebook post generated 3,000 shares in less than a week. Similar posts have amassed hundreds of interactions on Facebook and Twitter.

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, introduced the constitutional amendment to overturn Roe v. Wade in 1981, not Biden. Biden did vote in favor of it in 1982, however.

For him being a politician, Senator, Vice president... President.... it's all just a job. He wants the money and position. Actual stances on an ideal or policy? Obviously those will change according to his needs, and thats true with so many life long politicians.
Its really disgusting that the core media covers and aids these people.

So, 40 years ago, Biden opposed abortion

:ack-1:
Apparently you aren't up to date on your wokeness. People are to be held accountable for their past, no matter how long ago it was. They are trying to erase George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Lincoln, and others from the history books going back a lot further than 40 years. So, why shouldn't Biden be held accountable for something more up to date?

Agreed.
George Washington and all the founders wanted abortion to remain legal.

{...
  • Before 1840, abortion was widespread and largely-stigma-free for American women.
  • The first anti-abortion advocates in the United States were male physicians who sought to make abortion illegal to push out competition from midwives and female healers.
  • The idea that fetuses have rights and those rights trump those of living women and girls is a relatively new concept, historians say.

Biden is a miserable candidate.
He not only was wrong to oppose abortion, but was the author of the 1994 federal crime bill that created the War on Drugs, 3 strikes, mandated sentences, and lots of illegal things.
Biden should not be held in high regard.

But he currently is better than someone who currently opposes abortion.

Good for him that he became a better man since then. Similar to Obama and his stance on gay marriage.

What if the one opposing the abortion is the father of the baby?

Because no politicians have ever changed their minds in abortion. Sigh...
