This comics stylized fan-fic (perhaps my final Internet posting) is reflection of my interest in the modern trend of urbanization-paranoia themed art/literature/cinema.

Fabian was thinking about how to become a more 'engaged' American citizen. He studied criminal psychology at Yale University (Connecticut, USA) and had travelled across Nepal after graduating in search of his 'soul.' Fabian studied Confucianism, Luciferianism, and Shaivism and had used what he picked up to contemplate the meaning of free will and justice. Fabian decided he wanted to be some kind of 'vigilante' in an American city troubled by crime --- perhaps Gotham City (where his deceased parents left him their mansion and properties) or NYC (America's 'real' capital).
In Gotham City, a powerful crime syndicate headed by a ruthless Vietnamese warlord named Tang had taken control of the subway system, using it and its employees to shuffle narcotics throughout the city. Helping him was an ethically-troubled but gritty female lawyer named Harleen who believed that Tang's method of 'controlled drug distribution' was more desirable than anarchistic circulation of narcotics by hoodlums and junkies. Harleen, ironically, like Fabian, also dreamed of becoming some kind of 'vigilante,' though, at the moment, she was flirting with the wrong side of the law.
One night, during a huge shipment of opium from the Far East into Gotham Harbor, a mysterious masked man (wearing a balaclava-jumper) showed up with tear gas, tranquilizer darts, and a nifty silencer-handgun and single-handedly thwarted the drug transaction and contacted the GCPD to clean everything up. The GCPD showed up and found all the ghoulish henchmen of Tang there either dead or unconscious and a ton of opium. It was a great success for the law in Gotham, but no one knew what to make of the mysterious 'stranger' in the balaclava-jumper.
Harleen read about the drug seizure and suspected the mysterious 'vigilante' was some kind of idealistic young American man, fresh out of college. She advised Tang that to stop this new 'urban crusader,' Tang should hand-select and train a hit-squad, perhaps led by a sure-handed brute (or psycho). Tang agreed and chose a group of ex-convicts he knew from Chinatown and appointed a new ghoul to lead them. This ghoul leader was named Leatherface and he liked to walk around on Halloween Eve wearing a mask made to look like human skin and carrying a chainsaw.
Fabian was of course the mysterious 'masked vigilante' in the balaclava-jumper who helped seize the opium shipment in Gotham Harbor. Now, Fabian was convinced he was what Gotham City needed, so he fashioned himself a new and more elaborate 'vigilante/superhero' outfit designed to make him look like a prowling caped 'bat.' Fabian started calling himself The Batman, and though he did not carry a baseball bat or a mammalian bat on his shoulder (like a pirate!), he did carry a rope-gun and his tear-gas grenades and tranquilizer darts (as well as some other nifty home-made weapons such as his silencer-handgun and an electric stun-gun).
Leatherface and his appointed 'Gang of Martial Law' went trolling around Gotham City the next Halloween in search of The Batman who had sent in a notice to the Gotham Gazette that read, "Beware Tang and all other ghoulish super-criminals of Gotham City, for The Batman will deliver you to justice!" Leatherface and his gang roamed around the city until they spotted The Batman who was perched on the rooftop of Gotham Bank. Leatherface demanded the 'masked vigilante' come down and fight him. The Batman (Fabian) swooped down and swiftly knocked out Leatherface's goons with his tranquilizer darts and then dashed towards Leatherface with his electric stun-gun.
When Leatherface tried to swing his chainsaw across Fabian's neck, Fabian (aka, 'The Batman'), crouched down and slid to the ghoul's legs and shocked them with his electric stun-gun, causing Leatherface to fall down and his own chainsaw to land on his leg, gashing it. The Batman contacted the GCPD and Leatherface and his 'gang' were transported to Arkham Asylum (Gotham's maximum security center for the criminally insane) for incarceration and treatment. At Arkham, Fabian showed up dressed as a reporter demanding to know details about the arrest of Leatherface.
To his surprise, Fabian encountered the beautiful Harleen (Gotham's 'complicated lawyer') who wondered why he was so curious about the arrest of Leatherface. Fabian explained he was researching the vigilantism patterns of The Batman and wanted to know if Leatherface had any ties to Tang's crime syndicate. Harleen realized Fabian was The Batman (from his obvious conviction that Leatherface was linked to Tang) and also realized she was hypnotized by his sincere concern about urban crime. She invited him to dinner, and Fabian accepted (equally impressed by her combination of beauty and intelligence).
Fabian and Harleen were having a nice Italian dinner at Gotham's Olive Garden restaurant (shrimp lasagna, white wine, and truffles). Harleen came out and directly told Fabian that she thought he was The Batman. Fabian blushed and was taken off guard and replied, "You're right, Harleen! I am The Batman, and I've been studying your legal activities and actually have reason to believe you're tied to Tang!" Harleen blushed and said, "At first, I thought it would be the smart thing to do...until I met you!" Fabian and Harleen realized they were in love, so Harleen wisely but ominously told her new beau, "If I am to help you, the first thing you must realize is that Tang is right now planning a jailbreak for Leatherface! Only The Batman can win Gotham!"
