There are three reasons the utility companies invest in the stupid green energy projects.

1. They get good lending rates from the EU banks that have the requirement to invest in stupid Green shit.

2. They get subsidies from the fithy ass US government. Sometimes grants and even guaranteed loans than most of time don't get paid back.

3. They can pass cost on to the consumers.

If the companies had to invest their money and make a profit there never would be on solar or wind farms built.
