Extreme Rent Increases Are Killing US Businesses

USSR. Any year.
Obviously I was wrong, I thought everyone knew the Soviet Socialist Union collapsed in 1991, and since then on paper, it's a Federal Democratic State.

Have another go. Why not pick China, they'll take you in. Then go and slag their government off.

No. Just no. Rent prices arent damaging businesses. Everything is more expensive. That includes rent. Using your flawed logic one could claim that the collective business market is damaging landlord profits, under the assumption that I could charge more, if retail prices were lower.
:puhleeze:This is not hard to understand. If one year, you pay $600/month in rent. A year later, you pay $1000/month in rent, and a year after that, you pay $1600/month rent. You now have $1000 LESS every month to buy the things businesses are trying to sell.

You have $12,000/year LESS to do that. There goes your plans to buy that nice $12,000 violin. There goes your plans to outfit your home with new furniture. There goes your plans to get that low miles 2021 Kia Forte.

And there goes the chance for the sellers of those things to sell them to you.

And rent prices aren't damaging businesses ? You're not a very good liar.

Unbelievable apartment rent increases of hundreds of $$$ per month, are tearing US businesses to shreds. In my own case, I was paying $600/month 3 years ago Te rent went waaay up and I movd out. That apartment is now $1600/mo for renovated, $1200 unrenovated.

So I moved out, and I now am in a better place, but I'm paying $1,014/month. So I now have $414 LESS to spend every month, than in 2021. $4,968 less per year. There goes the nice new violin and mandolin I was going to buy. Same thing for hundreds of other musical instrument buyers in my area. So guess what > our main musical instrument store (Sam Ash) closed up & went out of business, nationwide. They had been in business for exactly 100 years.

Guess who else is closing down stores. > Walgreens. No, they don't sell musical instruments, but what they do sell cost money too, and a significant part of their customer base now has hundreds of $$$ LESS per month, to buy things with.

Rent controls. Bring the price down.

I've heard about that too. Things are going crazy. Biden is president. Nobody's minding the store.
They, the corporations, know that illegals will pack 3 or 4 families in a single home and they can raise rents, and profits higher.

Who says that corporations and this administration don’t work together to rip off the American people are lunatics

Get your bags packed

got a few years go yet, still young!

if all goes according to plan this time 5 years from now I will be a resident of a different country, most likely Panama but there are a few others still in the running.

NONSENSE. Rent control with rollback to 2016 levels, restores normal rent levels & allows consumers to pay for things other than just rent.
Wrong

It causes landlords to sell off their property or simply refuse to maintain it

Is that to get away from Muslims?

Is that to get away from Muslims?

No, it is to get away from hyper-partisanship. This country is being ripped apart by partisanship and I just do not want to be around it any longer than I have to be.

Speaking with other US Ex-pats this is a common theme, especially among Ex-Pats that are also veterans

I have no problem with Muslims, I spent 4.5 years of my youth growing up in Iran. The godfather of one of my children is a Muslim I meet in boot camp and have stayed friends with ever since.

Americans just always attack the person's character. Inflation went high, threat from Middle East and Russia etc.. and it's all dementia this dementia that, old this old that, orange colour v a mixed race Obama that folk thinks he's black. That's why Brits are on American political forums, sheer entertainment value. Policy and results wise, no idea cos you guys rarely talk about those.

Muslims seem to have a problem with Islam because they don't want to go live in a Muslim country.

Tis the same reason I am here, purely for the entertainment value.

You see things posted that one would never hear anywhere else.

But it is getting to be less and less entertaining

FALSE! As I have repeatedly proven by posting photos and videos of miles and miles of buildings in New York City, some over 100 years old, that were under rent control for many decades. Those buildings are still fully occupied right now, in perfectly good shape, and hardly look a bit different than they did 70 or 80 years ago.

The nonsense line that rent control cause landlords to sell their property, is an old, tired, worn-out propaganda line, that landlords still use to fight rent control. It simply doesnt stand up to the FACTS.

WRONG

It consistently causes property owners to sell off to new developers unless that is also prohibited.

Or they simply ignore maintenance

That is fact you have never disproven

It is the socialist hetoric you spew which is a tired bit of propoganda

I not only proved it months ago, in another thread, but I've proven it agin right here, in the very post that you just quoted. I proved it with a video that shows miles & miles of very old (but in great shape), fully functional buildings that have been under rent control for decades.

And that's just one neighborhood. I could post many more videos of walkthroughs of dozens of New York neighborhoods, all with miles of apartment buildings, many over 100 years old, all in good shape, after being under rent control for decades.

And your silly socialist card isnt going o help you either. I've been in this forum for 10 years, with over 56,000 posts and am well known as one of the most far right conservatives here. I've also been a business owner since the 1980's, and my 2 current businesses are being destroyed by landlords (like you?).

No socialist program that America has ever enacted has done anywhere near as much harm to US businesses, as has landlords with their mind boggling rent increases, taking spending money away from our customers. If you're a landlord, and you have extreme rent increases, as is common now, YOU are US businesses' worst enemy, not the socialists.
