Witnesses described the victim as an “exhibitionist” who they claim had “insulted and threatened” beachgoers before “masturbating in front of a woman”, Le Parisien reports.

t is alleged that the suspected gunman, a frequent beach visitor and hunting enthusiast who had arrived there moments earlier, got into an argument with the alleged exhibitionist.

The 76-year-old, who has not been named, allegedly demanded the pair continue their fight elsewhere, but the 46-year-old man refused.

He then allegedly took out a hunting rifle and shot the younger man three times including at least once in the chest, witnesses told investigators.

The 46-year-old man died at the scene.
