Years and years ago in Houston, a black preacher was stopped. As he exited his vehicle he reached onto the dash and swept up with his right hand, it was a bible. Was he called there because there was a disturbance? Maybe he went in there thinking there could be trouble.



So? This does not mean that people cannot mistake what one's holding in one's hand to be a weapon.

Personally I tend to sympathize with the white cop. Black people, especially black men, are very dangerous. They are constantly resisting arrest and having encounters with the law enforcement. If I were a cop and I saw a black man holding up what I thought was a weapon, I'd shoot, too. Better he dead than I dead.

Well, do we have good reasons to believe that the white cop was lying? Think about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The article isn't very clear, but I think that when he went in, it was in response to a call, and he was there to investigate, and there was probably music and noise, and he was probably expecting trouble. In situations like this, it is understandable that he reacted that way to what he perceived as serious threat.

He was either terrified or homicidal. IT matters not to you, because you'd excuse ANYTHING a cop does.
