I'm not familiar with this case but IF it was an honest mistake then why was he convicted of MURDER; makes no sense unless there's more to it.

Doesn't matter. You take a position where you are protected and assess the situation. Too many cops are cowards now, and will shoot at anything that startles them.

I am not in LE, but I think I read that sometimes, they have to make split-second decisions, or they could be the ones that end up dead.

It's easy for civilians like us to say stuff like that, assess the situation first, don't be so quick to shoot...etc. But I bet the reality that police officers face is quite different from the ones we imagine.

Police officers have an incredibly difficult job. They need to have much better training than they receive. They also need to raise the standards again.

Too many cops immediately reach for their firearm and use them as their "wand of power".

That's ridiculous. A firearm should only be drawn if there is a real need. Good training ensures that cops don't do stupid things.
