For decades, North Carolina was actually the progressive beacon in the South

That is exactly right. I mean the North Carolina that I grew up in would be considered a socialist epicenter, if not downright Communist. It was an old mill town with just a few thousand residents. The doctor in town was paid by the mill and anyone could go to him, even those that didn't work in the mill. I guess you could call that universal health care. The town had a recreation center, free for all residents, with an Olympic size swimming pool, one and three meter diving boards, indoor basketball courts, weight room, pool tables and pinball machines, ping pong tables, showers and dressing room, and two top-flight baseball fields where several MLB players got their start. In fact, there were several baseball and softball fields in the community, some supported by that one mill, others from tax dollars, and of course, the highest volume ABC store in the state.

City water, city sewer, garbage pickup, all FREE. First class road maintenance, great police force, and a real functioning downtown with a real haberdasher, a locally owned hardware store, and a mechanic you could trust. And don't even get me started on the schools. In fact, that was where the old North Carolina led the country. From the first public university in the country, to a Constitutional right to a free college education, which has long been abandoned and ignored.

I mean the state is still a pretty good place to live, that in despite of the Republican policies, not because of them. The reality is North Carolina has always been in a unique position within the American system. Hard scapple people scratching out a living from the earth, the very dynamics of the environment requiring a well-functioning society. Huge "dismal swamp" separating the state from Virginia. Numerous rivers that flowed west to east, not north to south, hampering transportation and separating the North from South Carolina. The graveyard of the Atlantic on the coast, isolating the state from ocean based trading. And glorious mountains to the west, the highest peak in eastern America and some of the oldest mountains in all the world.

And the new sixth district, it was a giveaway to the Democrats, if Aiken gets the nomination he will take the seat. All of Orange and Durham counties and part of Wake. We are talking the research triangle area, the most highly educated area in the country. Duke, University of North Carolina, and NC State, tobacco road. This ain't Trump country, not even close. This is old North Carolina at it's best, as opposed to Cawthorn's district, a cesspool of idiots.

Goofy Dim governor has ruined the state. All America hating commies

We need to stop pushing celebrities like Clay Aiken and Herschel Walker. What we end up with is representation from somebody with less brain material than the scarecrow from Oz.

At least Walker knows showing an ID to vote is not voter suppression.

You don't know shit about Roy Cooper. His handling of the Covid pandemic is a model for the rest of the states. But he is a hero in my mind because of how he got North Carolina's original copy of the constitution back. Few of the 13 original colonies still have their copy, but North Carolina does. It was ransacked from the state legislature during the Civil War. In hung in some yankee's law office for decades. Then one of the ancestors decided he was going to put it up on ebay. Roy Cooper saw to it that he didn't get two cents and forced the family to return it to North Carolina. Same for Butcher Tarleton's family, who thought they would make a buck on a North Carolina militia flagged captured by Tarleton's dragoons. Nope, they got nothing, and the flag is now back in North Carolina's hands. While AG's in other states piss and moan, sueing the federal government over Obamacare, voting rights, and other nonsense, Roy Cooper recaptured North Carolina's history. He actually did something besides political positioning.

Blah blah blah. I live in North Carolina, and first of all it is 16th in vaccinations of all 50 states yet 11th in total cases and 14th in deaths. How is that a model? Still places shut down, have to wear a silly facediaper everywhere, and the results have backfired. Why is that? Plus all you Dimmers run around changing history instead of preserving it.....I think your little Dimmer brain is confused.

And North Carolina is 9th in total population, which means being 11th and 14th is below what would be expected. Contrast North Carolina with Georgia, which has about the same population. Georgia has more deaths, less vaccinations, and a higher number of Covid cases. North Carolina's death rate per 100,000 population is lower than any other southern state except Virginia. It is almost half that of Georgia and two thirds of South Carolina. Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, God help those people, same for West Virginia, double the death rate of North Carolina. I mean North Carolina is at number 36, of 50 states, and the damn state is full of dumbshit Trump supporters like you. In fact, I am pretty sure North Carolina has the lowest death rate for Covid of any state that Trump won. So yeah, Roy Cooper has done an outstanding job despite of ignorant fawks like you.
