and I am also interested
I was stationed in Heilbronn FRG.

I Volksmarched all over Germany before the wall came down.

If there ever was a country I would move it....it was Germany in 1986.

I can't say the same today.

I know Heilbronn and the Kätchen of Heilbronn well
I did over 400k over the last 5 months I was stationed there.

I liked the way there was always something to do in Germany....and a lot of it involved walking in parks and forests.

I went to several winefests and beerfests.

The food was always the best and the healthiest.

Germans aren't known for their coffee but it's really good.

But my favorite thing was going to the bakery.

They make some really delicious cakes and deserts. Black Forest Cake. Bee Sting Cake. Yummy.

I also remember Kaufland in Heilbronn. Several floors where they sold just about everything imaginable.

There was a guy on the sidewalk selling Leberkase. Some mustard and a Brotchen and you're eating good.

Dad was stationed in Germany, I spent a year there, dad hated the command so much he volunteered to return to Viet Nam.

that Leberkäse looks good👍😊
Spritzkuchen!
or Springerle for Christmas 👍

It's been to long to really remember that well. I spent 3 years at Bitburg AFB. I was a working musician in a pickle suit. I spent a lot of time touring the Bases and Gasthouses but barely went anywhere on vacation. While others would take their 30 day leaves and go wine hunting, I would go on a USO style tour.

Very interesting! I also was employed (as a civilian) at RAF Gatow. In town I was fond of Currywurst and Kartoffelpuffer but at the NAAFI I ate poached eggs on toast every day. What I really didn't like was the smoked eel at the Kantina once each week.

Great stuff, some people bad mouthed German food but some of it was very good, don't think i would like smoked eel, but then again i didn't think i would like raw Herring until a Dutch friend asked me to try it several years ago bought it from a street vendor it was surprisingly good.
