EU power failure

Western propaganda put us there. We cut off cheap Russian energy because of .......... Western propaganda. :eusa_doh:
We have more than enough resources here. Canada has huge reserves they won't touch cause it makes feel righteous

Entire continent was in danger of going dark. Surprised this isn't a bigger story, it's called green failure.
We were at a cafe in Barcelona yesterday, around 1130 wife and I ordered brunch. Our hotel room wasn’t ready yet so we went out for a bite. Waitresses came back with wife’s order and said, “apologies but the lights in the Cafe (5 Pino, very fun place I recommend it) just went out. Street lights were on. Internet was spotty. We got WhatsApp texts. We hung out had espresso and OJ and waited

We heard: power out in Spain and Portugal

Some time later the rumors included France and Germany, but Majorca still had power

Our son lives close by in Sarria so we stayed the afternoon with him. Battery ran dead on my cell phone

We found an old transistor radio

Announcer: No one really was sure what happened

Went shopping local for things we didn’t have to cook: big line at store rapidly emptying shelves, NO ONE TAKES US $, ONLY EUROS! This wasn’t case during our last visit

Got into big argument with Progressive family members my list of possible causes: solar flare (most unlikely) cyberattacks (government orchestrated) CCP (they installed cut out on all the transformers they make)

Decided to stay at the hotel, plugged in the cell phone. Woke up 4am local time phone fully charged. Probably came back around 2am

My best guess: EU trial run, a few weeks ago they cautioned everyone to have a 72 hour stockpile

I've been following this event too for the past day with some puzzlement. Everyone keeps blaming switching to all green energy as the cause yet I've not seen one official claim to that effect. Some news have referenced to a "rare atmospheric effect" due to wide temperature differences, whatever that means. Your article and others have mentioned "oscillations," but go into no detail.

Power demand peaks during the day and drops off at night. When big customers drop into a low load or no load point of operation, that would send a slight voltage wave across the grid as voltage went up and inched slightly more in phase with current, but that happens all the time, every day, until the generators adjust, but what none of the articles explain was what was so different about this time.

"Entire continent"? I never watch the news because I don't trust anything they say. All of it is either an exaggeration or downright lies. Anyway, there has been no power outage at all here in the north.

Confirmation bias for sure

Fits the facts better than anything else

Even I get lead/lag synchronization Toob, one would think already addressed (as you said) by their POCO unless of course they suffered some sort of unusual overload.....~S~
