you could as easily say, Epstein was killed in 2019 with Trump as President, had nearly two full years of his presidency to look and see if Biden or any democrat was in the files and use that against Biden in the 2020 election....

There's no logically reasoned path to believing that it's likely that Trump is implicated in the Epstein files. Does that mean it's impossible? No, but it's logically, wildly unlikely.
Essentially what you want me and everyone else to believe is that:
Trump was involved in raping young women with the most notorious pedophile in US history who was indicted while he was President and subsequently died while in custody in what I think we can agree were at least odd circumstances. And then when no one was asking him to, promised to release the investigation files on Epstein, where he HAD TO KNOW there was at least a chance he would be implicated in. Did he just forget that he was ******* underaged women with Epstein? Why on earth would he promise such a thing?
Then having made this a campaign issue and the Biden campaign reeling post his debate melt down, no one with connections to the Biden campaign told them "Hey there's evidence in the Epstein investigation files that Trump was raping young women". Also no one who'd seen these files (and that number had be in the 100's or 1000's at that point), leaked to the press that Trump was diddling underaged women with Epstein. In the current political environment, I just don't believe that. Sorry.
And now that the files are going to be released you're making the claim that the Trump admin will have scrubbed these files of Trump's guilt and apparently all the people who would know that he'd done that are just going to keep their mouth shut about it.
That's what you want everyone to believe. That's what you think is logically feasible.
May I posit an alternate "conspiracy"?
Trump promises to release these files because it's a cudgel he can use against the "deep state". There's nothing in the files that could hurt him so why would he care. He knows that because he knows whether or not he'd been raping underaged women with Epstein or not. What he wouldn't know (because there would have been no reason to tell him when he was President last time) was whether the US intelligence apparatus was involved in this in some way either directly or indirectly. That's something he wouldn't be informed of until after he'd been sworn in and attempted to get those files released.
That scenario lines up logically with the timeline and facts (that we know currently) of this story IMO.
That said this is all moot, as the files are going to be released.

Both Parties hid them because "friends" on both sides of the aisle could be implicated. Information surrounding Epstein's sex-related crimes has been around since the 2000s. Several Presidents and DOJs have had the opportunity to open the files and search out anyone who may be complicit in illegal sexual activity.

Clearly, Epstein's and Maxwell's arrests weren't a "hoax." They were really charged and convicted for real crimes against underaged girls. So none of us can be certain as to why Trump was going to release the files then did a 180° turn and called them a "hoax" then did a 180° turn and said that releasing them would exonerate him. It would have saved a lot of time (and lost supporters) had he simply released them on "day one" like Patel promised to do.
Anyway ... it'll be interesting to see what lengths the DOJ will go to continue hiding the most pertinent facts and protecting the most important pedos.
