No, segregation didn't energize the Civil Rights movement..the inhumane treatment of black people in this country since it's origin energized it....
And what it took for the rest of America to become allies in that fight instead of enablers -- were stories like Emmet Till, the 3 civil rights workers who were murdered in Mississippi...and this story....

When 4 little girls were blown up inside of their church while getting ready for Sunday school; by a bunch of racist fucks who thought "the South will rise again" -- and then for the police and courts to refuse to do anything about it....that was the tipping point......because with the help of the media, it forced America to look in the mirror...and they didn't like what they saw......
The main victory of the 60's era Civil Rights movement is that it embarrassed these folks out of being blatantly racist....so they had to be more covert...and whined "political correctness" or "woke" over not being able to be blatantly racist anymore...
