• 'Those criticisms are precisely the opposite of what this small working group within the Department of Homeland Security will do,' Mayorkas said on CNN
• He also said the board will not have 'operational authority' and suggested its role was more of an advisory one
• DHS said the board was aimed at fighting Russian disinformation as well as false information that's being circulated by human smugglers bringing in migrants
• Mayorkas previously said disinformation circulating about US immigration was to blame for thousands of Haitian migrants coming to the border last summer

Anchor Dana Bash said, “Let’s talk about what your department is calling, The Disinformation Governance Board that you unveiled this week.

Mayorkas said, “Dana, I’m very pleased to do so. It’s clear, I mean, those criticisms are precisely the opposite of what this small working group within the Department of Homeland Security will do. And I think we probably could have done a better job of communicating what it does and does not do. The fact is that disinformation that creates a threat to the security of the homeland is our responsibility to address. And this department has been addressing it for years.”
He added, “So, what it does, it works to ensure that the way in which we address threats, the connectivity between threats and acts of violence are addressed without infringing on free speech, protecting civil rights and civil liberties, the right of privacy. And the board, this working group, internal working group, will draw from best practices and communicate those best practices to the operators because the board does not have operational authority.”

Plainly, the U.S. Constitution and it's Bill of Rights provides fort Free Speech and Limited Government. Progressive Maoist/DSA Democrat Commies want controlled speech and big government. Democrats are fundamentally, essentially, and terminally wrong and will not stop their aggression on America unless totally stopped.

To be fair, this is a pretty grievous tactical error on the part of The Administration. Not that the agency itself is any threat. It's just this move has REALLY BAD optics.

Any who is slightly independent will see the direct parallels between this and the apparatus of a totalitarian state. The nickname "Ministry of Truth" had already stuck just minutes after it was announced.

Then, not giving the board any actual power mean they drew all this bad press for no reason at all. Honestly, I would pay money to understand what they thought this would accomplish.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas hit the Sunday shows trying to sell the Disinformation Governance Board that he’s in charge of, which the Biden Administration announced this week, following the announcement that Elon Musk would be buying Twitter.
The announcement about the Board has created such a furor in response, Mayorkas has been delegated to clean it up and describe it as something that we need not fear. It’s a good thing, you see, according to Mayorkas, despite what you might think about the government determining what constitutes “disinformation.”

Mayorkas said the board will be an internal “working group” that looks at “best practices” (what exactly are best practices for government determining what disinformation is, when they’re not supposed to be doing that?) and communicating it to the “operators.” Who are the “operators” and what are they doing?

Well, that clarifies the workings of it. The Board, (PM/DSA Commie operatives), will determine what the party decides is true, and feed that directive to the "operators", i.e., party-aligned social media and MSM, for a coordinated and unified party narrative that will then be fed to the public.
