No, Biden Didn't Take FEMA Relief Money To Spend On Migrants - But Trump Did

Contrary to known reality.

Rumor: FEMA does not have enough money to provide disaster assistance for Helene.

Fact:

FEMA has enough money right now for immediate response and recovery needs. If you were affected by Helene, do not hesitate to apply for disaster assistance as there is a variety of help available for different needs.

Of course the big lie is that funds dedicated to the Disaster Relief were reallocated to the shelter program and that why the Sec has been calling on Congress for more disaster fund since June. The lie was started by Americas biggest liar of course so the flock has to either agree with lie or try and divert from the lie.
We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting,” Mayorkas said. “FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season.”

…..but they had money to traffic in new voters.

Former President Donald Trump's campaign doubled down Friday on claims that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) had run out of money to help those hit by Hurricane Helene because of the Biden administration's spending on services for migrants.

The concerns about FEMA's cash flow came after Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said on Wednesday that the agency would struggle for funding for the rest of the hurricane season.

Republicans, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott, then claimed that over $640 million had been spent by FEMA on migrants when it could have been used to plug the funding gap.

Stephen Miller, a Trump surrogate and the mastermind behind his immigration policy, said on Fox News that FEMA spending money on migrants is "the gravest betrayal this country has ever seen." Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce also reiterated the claims in a social media post.

Further claims were made that FEMA was actively taking supplies and donations from volunteers and other organizations trying to help.

Trump has a habit of assuming other politicians act in the same way as he would. So we wondered why he would accuse Biden of raiding the FEMA disaster fund to handle undocumented migrants.

It turns out that's because he did this. In 2019, the Trump administration, in the middle of hurricane season, told Congress that it was taking $271 million from DHS programs, including $155 million from the disaster fund, to pay for immigration detention space and temporary hearing locations for asylum seekers who had been forced to wait in Mexico. "The U.S. is facing a security and humanitarian crisis on the Southern border," the administration said in its notice that it was redirecting the funds.

The monthly reports issued by the FEMA disaster fund show $38 million was plucked and given to Immigration and Customs Enforcement in August that year — just before the prime storm period of September and October.

The Trump campaign did not respond to questions about Trump's actions in 2019.

So Trump redirected FEMA funds he has no authority to do?

Well, doesn't matter. The SCOTUS has given him immunity.

You hear that Joe. Kamala. You now have immunity to violate Constitutional norms and redirect funds allocated by Congress. Lets all think of the many things near, and dear to Republicans that we could divert funds away from.

GEE, thanks SCOTUS.
Thanks for your thread. Let’s put this to bed once and for all.

Just want to highlight this part from your link.

“The $650 million cited by Republicans refers to the Shelter and Services Program (SSP), which had a budget of that amount for Fiscal Year 2024, which ended on September 30.

SSP allocates funds to migrant support groups, nonprofits, and state and local governments to distribute to those in need of shelter, food or medical care.

While the funds are distributed by FEMA, they do not come from the agency's budget.”

Dupe thread of misinformation

Actually the funds are from fema given to other agencies

In a typical desperate attempt to protect the Biden/Harris regime, a Newsweek scoop claims that illegal aliens (Newsweek calls them migrants) were assisted by federal funding from programs they call CBP and SSP but it's all tied to FEMA.

No dope.
You don’t read so well.
An independent program with an independent budget allocated by congress.

All the help they need?

They “need” to be made whole but that’s not gonna happen for a while. Certainly not in three weeks.

I have some friends who were in a hilly region. Isolated. No power. No water

FEMA got them set up in a motel for now.
