Elton John

He was the first big artist I saw in concert. Landover Md in 74. Then around 6 years ago in Vegas and 2022 in Phoenix Az. The man is an energizer bunny.
Did they have open seating at the Capital Center then? I read once where a lot of his concerts were open seating at the larger venues.

Elton had so many great hits over a span of five decades. There are not many rock artists that had his staying power.

I saw him on June 30th, 1976 at the Capital Center. Open seating, when the gates opened everyone ran to the floor seats, I got a seat at about eye level around 15 yards away.....Great show.

He opened with:

Nothing like good funeral dirge then the lights came up and Loves Lies Bleeding starts. By golly that got the party started!

Same as what he opened with in 2014.

He was pretty good playing himself in one of the Kingsman movies. It was actually pretty funny.

When I saw him in Minneapolis in 1998 he was newly sober and seemed very happy and grateful to still be around and entertaining audiences. Plus, he was coming off the Lion King from a few years before and was red hot at the time.

I know we both are musicians, and you are clearly a fine piano player, but every time I have seen Elton I am amazed at his ability. His touch and feel are impeccable, which is not something you can really teach.

Some friends and I went Elton John at the Cap Center in Lanham Maryland. God what performer he is. Thanks, the great spaghetti god that I did not have to go on duty the day, I was fucking wasted, but it was worth.

I was never a big Elton fan though I did appreciate his lyricism. He was a great pop lyricist and vocalist. His piano playing was rather secondary.
I remember being in 3rd or 4th grade sitting at my desk one morning waiting for class to start and the girl beside me had one of his albums and
looking at it, I wondered who John Elton was. :SMILEW~130:

I like your version better. You sound like Bob Dylan if Bob Dylan could sing.

Bernie Taupin wrote most of the lyrics to Elton John songs at least for nearly the first decade.
