Buddhists have been violent plenty of times. Every religion has people that practice it peacefully but there's no easier way to convince a population to commit great evil than by using religion.

Humans have a history of many other ways and reasons for violence/wars than just religion.

The Telegraph has spent months investigating what children are being taught in the UK’s top private schools operating in the Middle East. Textbooks reveal that, despite the quintessential Britishness they peddle, many of these schools have been teaching pupils how to deal with “rebellious” wives.

These schools are not posh British private schools in the UK such as Harrow School and they are located in the Arab world, teaching mostly Muslim students. These Muslim schools, while branding themselves as top-tier British education providers, are adapting their curriculum to fit local requirements. These "Islamic Education" lessons are mandatory for Muslim pupils in the UAE. But they are at least learning good English from white British teachers who are sent over there, which may be the reason behind sending Muslim kids to expensive British-run schools in the Middle East.
