EBT Story: Very common in Hawaii.

If it is so common, how come you could not find a single link reported in any news organization substantiating this fraud? It could be true. Who knows? Who is dumb enough to depend on unsupported stories from some unidentified message board duffus, called shipwreckedcrew?

Are you really unaware of the history of food stamp fraud? and how people who want drugs, alchohol..etc, can sell food they buy at a discount. Of course its harder to trade away the food stamps like they used to since they no longer exist. The program switched to the cards to help eliminate the fraud. So why is this hard to believe?

You mean WAS, Stuck. I left. The whole family left. We are now comfortably in rural Idaho. But that's pretty much how it is everywhere in California.
Hey! Congratulations! Somehow, I had the impression you were locked in, (as happens, due more often than not, to family) and could not move. Idaho strikes me as a cool state. I considered that move, myself. Hope you are enjoying it.

I take it, you are new to the thread and have not read it. Try post #36.
My posts have been related to using some miscellaneous, X poster's tweet for a link, when unable to find a news link.

Actually, they are probably exaggerating. Would that word fit your narrative better? Is it a problem? Yes. Is it as bad as some people make it out to be? Probably not.

You're probably right.

Although, you could be assuming they are exaggerating.

Starting November 1, 2025, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service (USDA-FNS) will fully enforce long-standing work requirements for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—a move that could reshape food access for hundreds of thousands of low-income adults nationwide.

After years of pandemic-related waivers and uneven enforcement, the federal government is officially ending its “grace period” and reinstating time limits for a specific group: Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWDs)—that is, childless adults between roughly ages 18 and 64 who aren’t working or participating in job training programs at least 80 hours per month.

Those exempt from the rule include:

Adults medically certified as unable to work

Pregnant
individuals

Primary caregivers for dependents or incapacitated persons

Veterans and homeless individuals

Students
in qualifying educational or training programs

States still have a limited number of “discretionary exemptions” they can assign case-by-case, but under the new USDA cap, these cannot exceed 12% of the affected caseload

Could be some truth, as I saw as a 17 year old, food stamp fraud, buying massive groceries, then sold in the ghetto areas of Paducah, Ky, while working for Liberty Supermarket at Cardinal point, literally back in the days of the "welfare Cadillac". I loaded many, and got big tips for completely filling back seats, floor boards and huge trunks with buggies full of hams, turkeys, etc, very popular to that trade, at the time. So, the story would not surprise me, but it is amazing there are no actual documented news stories to support, other than some message board duffus with a message board name.

I know there was some truth to it. Back in the days when they actually gave food stamps.

Welfare Cadillacs are another urban myth promoted by a certain sort of white people.

For weeks all the Marines in Guadalcanal had to eat along with raisins was small supplies of Spam. Many survived on captured supplies of rice. Spam tasted good to them.
.

True. Hunger is the best seasoning of all.

I could eat rice with a little bit of raisins and Spam.

.

Here's some thievery from the top so it's not too hard to figure what goes on at the bottom.

How about this "how to" site:

Then there is instance after instance of SNAP fraud all across the country. Pages of them.

:oops8:

There is so much "big fish" fraud that I guess the little fish selling some prime rib he got from his SNAP card and selling it to a waiting "customer" out in some parking lot is not worth going after.
.

Tons of TikTok videos online of women giving instruction in how to defraud the government for more food stamps, crying about how they got nailed and had ALL their benefits taken away. Very gratifying.

.

LOL....You must not get out much.

That kind of shit has been going on since the old staple boxes were handed out.

Everyone had .gov cheese they bought off someone.
I can find a tweet that says Trump is Putin's gay lover. That is enough to base a thread on in 'current events' I guess.

I am. Thank you.

It would generate several pages of triggered Trumpster outrage!!!!!!!!

And I am sure similar stories happen all across the other 49 states, plus territories.

EBT Story: Very common in Hawaii.
EBT recipients go into grocery stores on first day of the month and buy Spam by the case. Some stores limit the number of cases any one person can buy.
They take the Spam to "Mom & Pop" vendors, some street vendors and some with rundown storefront operations in poor neighborhoods.
The vendors buy the Spam at a 50% discount because they use it in so many preparations.
The sellers the use the cash for drugs and alcohol.
Between the 3rd or 4th day of the month, and about mid-month, it is hard to find Spam on the shelf of stores in poor neighborhoods.

Real people can't make it in Hawaii due to dem policies.

I saw on a news show, many EBT recipients find a "shady C-store" and the owner buys their food stamps for cash. The recipient now has cold hard cash to play with and the C store likely trades SNAP with customers.
