Scientists have found evidence of a massive asteroid, 12 to 19 miles (20 to 30km) wide, that struck Earth more than 3 billion years ago.

The asteroid would have hit with an impact larger than anything humans have experienced.

The discovery was made in tiny glass beads called spherules, found in north-western Australia, which were formed from vaporised material from the asteroid impact.

'The impact would have triggered earthquakes orders of magnitude greater than terrestrial earthquakes,' said aid Dr Andrew Glikson from The Australian National University (ANU).

'It would have caused huge tsunamis and would have made cliffs crumble.'

The scientists have thought of blowing the meteor up in the space or changing its orbit with the help of solar sails.

Also, it is not like people have not seen the catastrophic effects of meteor attack before. On Feb. 15, 2013, an undetected asteroid, weighing 14,000 tons, hit the earth in a massive way.

It exploded over a populated area and caused injuries to many people. Thousands of people were sent to hospital. The attack was really like a warning for what could happen in future and thus, one must be ready for it. There might come a time when some destructive celestial object hits the earth and throws millions into the jaws of death. NASA definitely keeps monitoring the space for dangers but if it is out of the control of the scientists, they would not do much and human beings would be left at the mercy of their fates. Looks like only God can save them.

This is interesting. A big space rock. Good news. The dinosaurs' alien brothers swore revenge on us for their asteroid. Now we know that someone too before them swore revenge on them for that 19 mile asteroid.

Forensic ballistics can reconstruct the type of bullets from scattered fragments of targets. The physics of impact mechanics was known since Newton's time in the 1600's. I think finding the glass had to be harder.
