Early Voting Begins Today for Virginia Redistricting Referendum

SO you happily stripped your fellow Virginians of their right to be represented in Congress because of something that happened in Texas? Dat's f*cked up.
I view it as I happily enabled my fellow Virginians to be represented in Congress because of what happened in Texas.

And you defended Texas starting the whole mess because your are MAGA and wanted to hold on to power after the mid-terms.

Your point?

Republicans have spent many years being Mayberry R.F.D. to your American Horror Story. They even are spiteful not supporting common sense initiatives due to their elites not approving it. Spanberger is a far-left wing Progressive Socialist Communist secular anti-Israel extreme feminist Jewish woman who smirks at anyone else. This is what is crazy.

prior to the /// amendment///, the Democrats had the advantage 6-5. It will now be 10-1.

Damn! The Democrats must be slipping. They left us a republican representative in the state!
Dems sure are getting soft in their old age, they are too kind.

The GOP ought to be suing them for rigging an election; everything the Dems do is to effectively make our elections a one-voice, one-choice, one-party system.

What Texas did? What a minute? Did Texas break the law? No, they followed it, so they had a right. Did Texas effect a new law in place just to allow it like California did? Nope, this was the standing law already in place.
Did Virginia break the law? No, we followed it, so we had a right. Virginia did DEMOCRATICALLY put a new amendment in place, unlike Texas, to allow it, as is our right.

So then, did Texas' redistricting make the distribution of representative more or less fair? One can argue that but it appeared to me it was more fair, and besides, they followed state law, it was their right.
Did they do it for fairness or as a Trump-directed power play?

Now Virginia jumps in, slaps in a new governor, slaps in a new set of laws just so they can effect redistricting, and Voila, you are OK with it.
Actually, it was an amendment to an existing law and is only a one-time situation. To ever do it again, another referendum will have to be held. Texas can redistrict whenever they choose.

Pretty funny that democrats are reacting in panic simply because one other red state merely did the same thing they commonly do.

There will be repercussions, I'm sure.

You left out the part where you first packed every city in the state with idiot young female leftists to assure its passing, or are you going to argue that Spamburger didn't already have this in mind when she ran? The whole 'Texas' story is a snow job--- democrats have gerrymandered for ages w/o the GOP responding in kind, but just because Texas finally tweaked their laws a little bit in response to democrats to help level the playing field, all you tards erupt in a panic because you might no longer have your overwhelming majority and the GOP might actually have a more equal chance now. Having a level field really terrifies the Left.

Actually, it was an amendment to an existing law and is only a one-time situation.
Yep, all done just to help you win the midterms.

Pretty funny that the GOP are reacting in panic simply because Virginia merely did the same thing they did.
I never saw any panic in Texas. They simply decided it was time. The Left are the ones in panic, first California and now Virginia quickly to maintain the advantage, and the Dems already had a 6-5 advantage, so they "fixed" it so now it is a more fair 10-1?

Did Texas make their state 10-1 republican???

Texas redistricting = Good

Virginia redistricting = Bad

Got'Cha.

You said that, not me. The thread is about the creepiness of virginia allowing crowded, fed-gov-subsidized NOVA to control the state’s voting. You appear to be looking for ways to excuse that by pointing to some other bad thing. That reflects on you, not me.

So well said. 🏆

The DEMs sued Texas for rigging an election.

The SCOTUS said redistricting for power was A-OKAY.

Reap what you sow.

I live here and know that is BS.

What was it that Texas was responding to?

Yep, all done just to help you win the midterms.
Yep, just like in TX.

I never saw any panic in Texas. They simply decided it was time.
In June 2025, The New York Times reported that the Trump administration had urged Republican leadership in the state of Texas to redistrict the state's legislative boundaries in order to benefit Republicans.[15] The plan elicited concern from some Texas Republicans, who argued that it could hurt incumbent Republicans. An official associated with Donald Trump warned lawmakers that the president was noting who would support his plan.[citation needed] Representative Michael McCaul held a twenty-minute meeting in the United States Capitol to discuss the plan. According to the Times, the proposal began amid concern from Trump and his allies that a Republican loss in the 2026 United States House of Representatives elections could damage Trump's legislative agenda and lead to investigations.[16]

The Left are the ones in panic, first California and now Virginia quickly to maintain the advantage, and the Dems already had a 6-5 advantage, so they "fixed" it so now it is a more fair 10-1?

Did Texas make their state 10-1 republican???
They gerrymandered 5 Dem seats, VA only gerrymandered 4 GOP seats.

So you’re now officially in favor of Texas’ redistricting.

Nope, I prefer that all districts were set after the census as is normal.

Trump ordered Texas to redistrict, so I understand the reaction.

I have no problem with a Federal law that mandates non-partisian district designs based on population density, natural barriers (moutains, rivers, etc.) and civic boundaries (county, city, township, etc.) which removes political power from the equation. Then let the districts fall where they may.

There are computer programs that can already do this sort of thing.

Is this some kind of game?
